m505x lower trim easy to replace?

I dont know if this is common but one other fellow m505x owner has experienced this problem also... the lower trim of the the m505x tends to scratch and make line marks when the LCD lid is closed because the (6) rubber thingys on top of the lcd are useless (too small) to prevent the top lid from rubbing the lower trim (centrino logo/touchpad/speaker trim cover) So when u place this laptop in a carry case the lid will rub against the lower chassis and cause scratches etc : (

My question is does the top trim bezel where the centrino logo/touchpad lower trim come off easily? i am trying to have gateway replace it for me since mine has some chipping/scratch and rub marks when u close the LCD. The rubber thingys on top of the LCD is very tiny so the top lid will rub agains the lower touchpad/speaker area trim. Gateway is willing to replace the trim but i have to send it back to them... they will cover charges etc but if i can have them send the part to me I would rather replace the trim myself... any ideas if this piece comes off easily or not? thanks

PS
I suggest everyone buy a Shaggy mac LCD cover to prevent this from happening!

Greetings - I've only had my M505x for just shy of two weeks (and I'm thrilled with it by the way). I haven't noticed any marks on mine but it hasn't been carried yet. I "googled" Shaggy Mac and didn't get a good response. Can you provide some info on this LCD cover? I also checked Amazon to no avail. TIA - Geo

PS - I am disappointed with one thing about my 505; a replacement dvd/cdrw will run $375 from Gateway!! I am accustomed to getting drives for $150 thereabouts (my last work computer was a Dell C600 Latittude). I haven't had any problems w/ the drive - but I just like the idea of having a spare.

I ordered the ShaggyMac LCD ScreenProtector like 2 weeks before I recieved my M505XL. It works great! But you have to measure the Length and Width of the M505 to customize the LCD ScreeProtector. The protector is place on your keyboard area. The material is very soft. I purchased the black color.

Will Gateway replace my slot-drive for free if it is still under my 3-yr extended warranty? I just want to know even though my slot-drive is working fine.

As far as I know - the slot drive should be covered under the warranty. This is my first Gateway so I can't speak from experience. I am going to get the extended warranty though. I bought mine from Amazon so I wasn't able to get it upon purchase. No problems so far with it but lots of dust where I'm staying now.... Oh - I found ShaggyMac by the way.

yeah shaggy mac sells them on ebay too. I bought mine for like 14 shipped. Do a search for Apple LCD cover or screen. Does anyone know how much the DVDR burner cost? oh btw i think gateway is going to replace my lower chassis due to the scratches... but i am debating if its worth it for the techs to take apart my laptop to replace alittle cosmetic issue.... they could do more damage than good and possbly scratch my chassis and lcd lol
