Mayhem G3 ordered!!! - Page 5

it is maya. since the G3 has a wxga screen, that's the max and native resolution. what are you talking about heinrick?
Forgetting the actual screen resolution, how many games support 1280x800? Aren't you playing MOST games at 1024x768?
its widescreen so you will have to play in widescreen settings not the standard 4:3. i think it takes some tweaking to get it to display right.

You don't HAVE to, you can have it to not stretch, which seems like what Heinrich is referring to, and maybe that he'd rather have a bit more vertical resolution.

well, judging from the heat issue, i think i'll be waiting until the 4750 comes out to make my decision. otherwise, great review rustican, you really helped me out! lol

Heat problem fixed for less than $30

I have permanently fixed my heat problem. Firstly, the G3 only runs hot when running demanding graphics applications / games for extended periods. For $30, I fixed the problem PERMANENTLY and WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

Bought a "Chill-Pad" from CompUsa. I only use it when I know I'm gonna game for hours...and I have ABSOLUTELY NO HEAT PROBLEMS.

Is $30 worth it? Hell yeah!

Loving my G3...it's not going back...period.

really? a cooling pad fixed the entire problem? awesome! now the g3 from mwave is looking real damn nice (<1600 i think), considering how expensive the 4750 has turned out to be. really great news ken, thanks!

Does anyone know who else OEMs this notebook?

So far I've found Rock Direct (UK), Eveham (UK), GamePC and ABS, all of which are kinda rich when it comes to price.

Finding a barebones of this one would be NICE.

Hey, i'm somewhat new into the whole laptop arena but i'm getting ready to purchase the Mayhem G3. Can someone please tell me what all i'm gonna need to be wirelessly connected to the net in any of the b/g network areas? Aside from the laptop itself of course. i.e. PCMCIA cards or anything else.
thanks

When you configure the G3 it should have internal wireless already. You won't need a PCMCIA card for that.

alright, so then i assume i just get service with Sprint or whomever i wish for a wireless internet plan and then i should be good to go? I've been studyin' up on laptops and all their components now for a while but the one thing that i'm shady on still is how this whole wireless connection works. I hear that some people still have to use those PCMCIA cards, other people have to use connection cards from Sprint or whomever their service provider is for their internet, i just want to make sure that by getting the Mayhem G3 i'm not unkowingly opting out of being able to get wireless connection wherever there's a b/g network. Once i get back from this arabian gulf deployment it will be much easier to just run in and ask Sprint myself but for now i'm having to use alternative methods. Thanks for your help

this thread just keeps comming back, doesn't it?

err....yeah woot!

ammeders...check out IBP...might save some money on the same config.

hey, they've got some sweet setups but what is there reliability like? It bothered me that they don't have a better warranty program than just a 1 year deal. There seems to be so many problems with laptops that i couldn't really justify getting one that's that nice with nothing protecting it longer than a year. You know anyone who has their equipment and is pleased? I guess dependability is a big thing i'm lookin for because i'm gonna be on the road alot for business and real estate also.

If you go with a wireless plan with Verison or Sprint i think you might have to use their wifi PCMCIA cards. Check with them first to see if you can use the internal wifi built in your notebook.

As for IBP vs ABS, i like ABS 30 day return policy just in case you're not happy with your purchase or if anything goes wrong.
