17" thin and light notebooks

Alright, as far as I know, the only thin and light 17" notebook is the Apple Powerbook.

I'm trying to find a 17 incher that would actually be considered portable, or close to it, has decent battery life (So basically doesn't use a desktop processor), and has either a 9600 128mb or 9700 128mb graphics card.

Im like 99% Im just dreaming and there's nothing like this out there, but I figured I'd ask y'all anyways.

So what would be the closest thing to a "portable" 17" notebook (that isn't the Powerbook)?

Sony Vaio A190 or Type S series could fit the bill, but would cost 1.5 times as much as a Sager.

The A series weighs 9lbs and the S series has a 13.3 screen. Nice try...

As far as I've seen, the lightest 17" PC notebook I've seen comes in around 8lbs and change. It migh have been a Prostar but not sure?

think about it, dont you think theres a reason there arnt any light 17" laptops...maybe because a 17" itself is big and heavy. even if it wasnt, most people that want alot of portability dont want alot of size anyway, there isnt much market for it.

you have to pick...8lbs 17" or 12" 4lbs

Or....just go with the Powerbook

although I'm not a fan of Apple, if I needed a 17" screen, their's would be the obvious choice. The great thing is the battery life it gets. I believe it gets around 2hrs which is awesome for a lappy with such a large screen.

the cx6 has a 15.4''' screen.

Since you guys seemed to have found the 17" model, maybe you can help me.
I'm looking for a thin 14" notebook without optical drive that weighs around 4 lb and has 128MB of graphics memory. Could be 13" or 15" too - but the keyboard must be fullsize.

wow, thats a nice looking laptop, reminds me of my asus. good looking 17" samsung, what are the specs on this?

have fun finding a 17" portable other than the apple. the samsung is damn near impossible to find, so don't get your hopes up

and personally i think the samsung looks like crap. then again, light colors on a laptop never turn out looking good. (cept the powerbook. stupid mac people always ruin good theories! haha)

The first Samsung 17” LCD notebook weighs only 2.99kg and is the lightest notebook with for its specifications. Samsung M40 uses Intel® Centrino™ technology with a high-speed 2GHz Pentium® M processor and dedicated 333 MHz DDR SDRAM and 80G hard disk. The M40 provides WXGA hi-resolution display (1440 x 900) with Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 video interface, 64 MB dedicated video memory and also supports 4 x AGP, providing the best multi-media visual quality and the most comprehensive multi-media performance, all blended with the M40’s high convenience and mobility.
The notebook is sweet, just the FX 5200 Go ruins the whole thing
