Curious to see what the new features are...

My guess? It's the AMD-64 they've been working on.

Another guess? It's based on the Uniwill 15.4" widescreen that's been popping up at other retailers all this week.
I think that it will start with a pentium m 1.7GHZ and it will have the same integrated graphics same memory and hard drive but smaller screen

If it's a 15.4" chassis, it won't be light. 6lbs at the very least. I'm not so sure that they would scrap the Centrino for an AMD. Kind of defeats the purpose for thin and light with long battery life.

We shall see...

Just repeating what the man said.....I think, smaller notebook smaller battery. The way he mentioned it, I believe he meant total life. I am still not sure I believe it will be up mon/tue. I guess I believe when I see.

I hope this means they will find a happy medium between portability and performance. Maybe a model in between Sentia and 51m. It seems most want that. 5-6.5 lbs. total weight, latest gpu (at least 64mb), 14-15 in. screen, 3-4.5 battery life, and optional integrated bells and whistles. Personally I am waiting for the Type S, but I am skeptical about that one too.
The type-s is that, but it comes at a rather hefty price

13.3 widescreen lcd
9700 gpu with 64mb ram
4+ hour batt life
can be configed up to 2.0 pentium-m (dothan)
weighs 4-5 pounds
3000$
There are several notebooks that are a cross between mobile/portable and performance

http://notebookforums.com/showthread...&highlight=odm

Several of those notebooks weigh no more than 6 pounds
get 4-5 hour battery life, come with latest gpu (9700), can be configured with 60gig 7200rpm hds, 1gig ram, and pentium-m up to 2.0 dothan

I do not care. The longer I have waited, the more money I have, the cooler stuff that comes out. I have waited for a type s type for a long time, I'm getting impatient.

I agree there are a ton of good comprimises. BUT XBRITE!
4 pounds! DVD burner! 2gb of ram max.
Yes sony does waaaaaay overcharge for its products, but I have never been dissatified with one.....ever. I have been using notebooks for a long time, this could be the one. Again I am skeptical though.
the others come w/ dvd burner and can be configured with 2 gig ram max too

but xbrite is something no one else has comparably, except for maybe fujitsu clearview screens... both are awesome imho and the closest thing you can get to crt type quality on a laptop lcd

When I had my two Vaio's (505s and XG500) a few years back, I bought them just before the models were discontinued. Picked them up cheap but the only drawback was that there was always something better that was replacing the older model.
