10 Days later....8790 review

So I finally made this huge investment and I got a machine that just blows me away. I was originally on this site surfing the AW boards, but upon examining both brands I had to rethink. I had heard of Sager, but knew nothing about them and I was not keen on getting a laptop from a brand I knew little about. This forum changed my mind...And Sager is definitely the right choice.
You can see my specs below.

Everyone talks about the screen.....why? Because its the nicest damned laptop screen you will see on the market today (at least from all that I have seen). The thing is huge. I am most used to a 19'' Trinitron, but I love this screen a lot more. The colors are so vivid and bright. Everything is so sharp. The best thing is....there is no glare because of the lack of the matte finish on the screen. The color black actually looks black1 In all honesty, I had no idea the screen would look like this when I first turned it on! And I do not have any dead pixels. I had some scares, but they just faded away.

I came from an ancient Dell PC with a pentium 3 at 500 mhz. I upgraded my ram from the original 128 sdram to 512.....
using this laptop is like a dream. My startup time on my pc used to take several minutes.....On my Sager, its around 30 seconds.
It is the perfect desktop replacement I feel.
After installing 2 games, and all my applications.....everything runs smoothly.
I have had 2 or 3 "hangs" but nothing to worry about.

The huge fans have only come on twice so far. Whilst playing my games, the fans boost of course, but you forget about them after a while.

I don't know what else there is to say that hasn't already been covered.
This laptop was a good choice and good fit for me. Everything is smooth, I can do anything I want on it...and I'm more than happy with my Sager.

The power of the Search is really amazing. You will find the answer to your question in thse forums if you use the search function. I would also suggest reviewing the "Review" thread as there is a lot of information there.

Good luck.

I can't think of anyone that wouldn't be impressed w/ the power of the 8790 if they had one to test drive.

Glad to hear yours is performing as expected

I took mine on a job and started talking about gaming with someone. He started talking up his system, so I fired up Far Cry and Call of Duty and Unreal Tournament to show him my 8790. Even though I was working the keyboard and mouse he thought it was a video and not real-time. He couldn't believe it was all running so smoothly at high frame rates with no choppiness. He was just sitting there staring at the screen, looking a bit dismayed.
