Synaptics Touchpad CL56

What's up with this? I had this process that was keeping my processor load at 100% when sitting 'idle'. The process that was causing it was SynTPEnh.exe. I did a search on SynTPEnh.exe and found out it was something in with the Synapics touchpad drivers.

According to this site it says it is related to spyware and should be removed

Any idea/reason why this touchpad driver would be using 100% cpu load all the time or why it is 'related' to spyware???

Looks like sometimes the Synaptics touchpad does not play well with Windows XP!

Have not heard of it consuming 100% CPU... OUCH...

Has worked fine for me though for two weeks now???

It actually only started once i downloaded that driver link you sent me Rincewind (I think it was you anyway). Never had this problem with the drivers included on CD. So, I uninstalled both the touchpad and the Logitech mouse drivers and just using no drivers for now. I may just stick with this. I set the sensativity to a place where the mouse and touchpad are both in pretty good places, kind of a happy medium I guess. The Synaptics drivers and Logitech drivers don't seem to get along well. They both want to take over the Mouse Control Panel it seems. If you install the Synaptics driver first and Logitech second, then the Logitech drivers will 'take over' and the mouse will work fine. Vise Versa if you install them in different order.

Does anyone with a CL56, that uses a Logitech mouse, able to have both the Synaptics drivers and Logitech MouseWare drivers installed and have both devices function corrently?

I'm actually pretty happy how it is right now with no drivers. Just some of the buttons on my Logitech MX500 don't work. Not that I used some of the 'special function' keys much anyway.

And yes, I did run adaware and spybot and virus checks and all that.

Its not spyware and perfectly normal. However I noticed it causes a lot of file access (using FIlemon), so you can just turn it off.

Just right click on the icon on the task bar and tell it not to load with windows startup.

so it stops if you uninstall the driver?

No I would install the drivers, they are very usefull for cusomising ur 'pad just how you like.

However I would turn off the TRAY APPLICATION as this causes problems, not drivers itself.
