I can't handle this domestic violence. Mommy, Daddy, stop fighting. To quote Rodney King "Can't we all just get along?" Now take off your wifebeater shirts and get back to business.

Jamaster...lay it to rest almighty AW Defender...I extended the olive branch of peace...just let it go...

To my defense...when the whole ghosting issue came up...I was the first to say it was very minimal and that I never noticed it...I point out the good and bad (BTW, I never said AW lied...I do feel a little misled though and perhaps that is my fault for misintrepreting the upgradeability deal).

Diesel-when the notebooks first came out AW touted magnesium alloy cases...however I remember when the very first few people who got the notebook noticed that only certain parts were magnesium alloy...the outcry forced AW to fine tune their website by saying magnesium alloy chassis which means only the areas that Craig pointed out are magnesium alloy the rest is plastic...I believe you can look this up on their site as well...

i'd agree with that, the aw has looks and from what ive heard a better screen. but if you are not geting a paint job with that sager you can save alot fo cash for a very similar machine

The loss of sales might make AW's position (or perceived position) a liability.

After reading all these posts.....i'm a little baffled.

I just bought a 51M with a 9700, 1 week ago.

Are the graphics upgradeable or not?

If not.....AW has opened a can of woooopass

There is no grey in this post. Just black or white.

YES or NO?

Please, no one answer this question. Only AW has the answer.

Now I have to find their advertisement that stated upgradeable graphics. BTW, they changed that to try to cover the fact that recent buyers, like myself, have a pretty good case against them.

My wife, who is a Assistant DA. Has already told them they had better make this right with us.

Time will tell my friends....time will tell....

FWIW, I am very pleased with my AW 51M. Futuremark 2003:3693pts-GPU 475/260-Omega Drivers..of course

heli, you got 3693 on 3dmark03 without overclocking?
Never said that. Look at the GPU levels.

Helidude...please read AW's official response and make your own judgement.

He said he would return ALL emails. He should have said, everybody but helidudes. I emailed him immediately after he posted. Still no reply.

Imagine how well this company would do if management really DID care!

And yes, when the 51M is on, it be overclocked. I bought it just for playing games. uhmm, which has all of once so far

Anyone wanna buy it?

It is physically possible for the user to replace/upgrade the graphics in the 51m, however, AW is, as of yet, unsure whether a true "upgrade" after the 9700 will be available. That is as cut and dry as it gets.

Married to a lawyer? You have my condolences.

Computers r changing faster than ppl imagine. about 5years ago a 5-10gig drive was HUGE now wear talking 500gig raid systems. and if you said "i have a 8gig hd 2400rpm" you would think im joking!

I think it was 15years ago they would say "i have a 10mb harddisk" do u remember the "18mb RAM" days? or the 8mb gfx cards?? or when a proccessor was in mhz its not that long ago.

If you think a pc should last years your wrong. 3-6months before it can be classified as "****"

infact im on a laptop thats 2years old that cost the same as my new AW and its 1.2cel, 256mb ram, 32mb gfx,20gig Hd the SAME price! my new laptop is 4x the power maybe even 5!

Hardware isnt like software where it can last for a few years, IE windowsXP,Photoshop,Maya,3dmax

Uhm... no, I mean I only have a master's degree in the field now

BTW: it's usually 15 months for most HW to be considered obsolete (though not to the point of requiring replacement... most studies list that as 2 1/2 years). Graphics gives 9 months for the chipsets and 3 years for connection. 15 months for software. I could graph it for you if you would like it explained better.

The point is, if you make something support it. Which is what AW is choosing not to do (or so it seems).

Care to try again

NB: I'm in a pissy mood, muahahahahahaha!!!!

Ooooh... wow 16 Mb? You were cooking with gas weren't you?

I remember my first Mac, a IIsi with 5Mb of RAM AND it had 16-bit color. It was such a step up from my TRS-80 or toys like the Vic 128, or C64 (the TRS-80 was by far my fav since it could work with Unix and VAX... but that was before VAX died out and I got my Mac, which was better for Unix). Ahhh the memories of being able to go into some of the lesser known, or found BBS and picking up tips from guys like Killer, Flash, and Eric Bloodaxe.

Does anyone remember the old MOD/LOD battles? That was some fun stuff to watch and learn from.

FYI: I seem to do more in the way of voice acting as of late, but yeah I work in the industry.

I know that, but that's not the revision...that's the chipset. I was looking for the version on the mobo currently used...like rev 1.1, or rev 2.0...
