Yeah. I took some automotive rubbing compound, and buffed out the upper silver area of the wrist-rest, so that I could take full advantage of viewing my inserted mural

Then, took polishing compound to the entire wrist-rest, to turn the translucency more 'transparent'

Hey everyone with a wrist-guard template, when making your personal template what kind of software did you use?
I just used Corel Photo-Paint yet you can use any image editing software

How did you overlap the photo over the template. Let me know. ThaNkS!
well what I did was I made the background clear so it was only the green part, and then I added that over the image. You can then also change the color to like red if you are putting it over something green.

Used a mask. If you don't know how to use masks in image programs I can't really explain too easily...

Is there anyone out there willing to post up links to the actual pictures they used in conjunction with the template to do the wrist rest mod?

There's tons of great pictures out there but i just don't have time to go through all of them myself. So people...POST UP SOME LINKS!!!

I'm bringing this back to the fore to show all the 5680 users this post. This was one of my bigger aesthetic reasons for getting a 5680.

Do you still have an image containing a better quality printable of the template?
Yeah, I did one of these wrist-rest inlay things, and the template needs some work. The dpi isn't adequate, and the shape of the trackpad area is pretty wrong. I had to make three inlays before i got it to work well enough.

want to send me your 5680 temp?

michael.mcdevitt@snhu.edu

o and a legal piece of paper does not even cover the whole wrist rest area

michael.mcdevitt@snhu.edu...
I love when folkes don't worry about web-bots that scour the internet for e-mail addresses... that's what I call "faith" in your spam filter (dorky pun actually intended).

I just used this template, enlarged it to 600dpi, and took off some of the green area around the touchpad. Then I just sort of experimented while cutting. You don't really see the aliased edges of the template on my inlay unless you are looking for them, but I'm a perfectionist. It looks pretty nice (I decided to name my Sager "The Stove" since it's so big and seems hot enough to do light cooking, so my inlay has lots of blue flames and "The Stove" in old skool video game lettering.)

could someone please repost a pic of the template? The one on the first post is a dead link.

Thread Starter
I've updated my links in the first post of this thread. My ISP changed and I forgot to reset for the new address.

I hope people continue to enjoy!
