Aviator Ax6 Benchmark :(

Thread Starter
Hi, I have an Aviator AX6 with the following:
CPU: ATHLON 64 3400 DTR
VIDEO: ATI RADEON MOBILITY 9600 PRO TURBO 128 MB.
DRIVERS: Catalyst modified by Driver Heaven Mod Tool
512 MB PC3200.

I run 3dmark 2003 demo version and I am very dissapointed.
My score is 2681 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I compared it with another mitac system or even 3-machines and it seems like I own a pentim 100 with a 3dfx card. ....
Also I try to overclock (a little) with ati tool but my system crash.

Please I need some advice cause I thinking of commiting suicide...

Thanks!!!!!!!!

that's not that bad for a 9600 card.
i'm pretty sure even 9700s in laptops like the mitac8050 will only get 2800-3000 in 3dmark03 (stock clock). unfortunately, however, the 9700 has a better capability for overclocking than the 9600, so people are able to get scores of 3300, 3400 in laptops such as the cl56 by boosting their clockspeeds. the 9600 would probably crash, like you said, if you tried to OC it too much.
i'm really not sure why you bought the ax6 if you were concerned solely with performance in benches like 3dmark03
you would have been much better off with a sager 5690 if that was the case.

Nothing wrong with that score at all really.

Run it a few more times, there can easily be a +/- 100ish points.

hi

my last laptop before getting my current one (see sig) was the mitac8335 (which is also known as hypersonic ax6, voodooo m:855) i wrote a pretty extensive review about it, as i was one of the first people to get a fully decked out one with athlon64 3400+ and the works.

when i ran 3dmark03 @ stock clock settings I got 2604
aquamark03 @ stock clock settings was 18000 or so

Seems a little low for that system.
My 1.6M / 9600 64mb laptop gets 2650 on 3dmark03.

Try turning off the services you don't need, make sure nothing else is running in the background when you benchmark.
People going for high benchmarks pretty much turn off everything when they run them, so try to do the same.

Thanks for the replys,,,
The thing is that I'm seeing online benchs in 3dmark and people are able to oc the 9600 64 mb on emachines to 450 MHz / 240 MHz or more.

Is it possible to replace the card in this system ?

The reason they get such high scores is because they overclock the crap out of the video card. You can push your cores up and im sure u can squeeze 200-300 points out of it easily. If you want you can even get more but that would be risking it.

Yep, I try to oc only to 390/210 (default is 350/189) and my system crash.
Don't know if it's my system or the software....
