Is everyone still in the dark about the availability, pricing and specs of this unit.

The german reseller Cyber-System talks of an availability of his CL-5711 (Clevo D470K Barebone) starting in the middle of the next week. If that is true, I think Sager will also release the 4750 soon !

Well the Sager add had the WXGA/amd 3000+ at 1942; the updated version may be around 2200 (I'm guessing).

4750/amd

Hello fellas,
I have been reading this forum for a while and im trying to figure out what laptop i want. I had thought about waiting till the PCI-express came out, but i find out that that wont be until october for some of the laptops out there. So i am gonna get the 4750 with the amd 64 bit processor. In addition, i believe that the 9700 will be sufficient enough for gaming for the next 4 years cause as i think about it, the 9800 pro, what current games really utilize its power..and i can't really think of anything that couldnt be satisfied by a 9700 or 9600. I know that the mobile 9700 isnt the same as the desktop but I believe that it will be able to handle games for the next 4 years. ......anyway do you guys think its a good idea to get the 4750 with whatever amd 64 processor i think i will go with the 3400+, and probably a gig of ram. Just wondering what your thoughts are..thanks for any info you can offer.

games that really utilize the power of the 9700 would probably be farcry, doom3, halflife2, the usuals. and no i don't believe that its the same as the desktop 9700 because it has a different core from the original 9700's R300-series one and i believe that it only has 4 pipelines instead of the desktop one's 8. even so, its a kickass card that will probably last you another 3-5 years, provided you're willing to turn the details down a bit in the future. however, i think i'll just go with the ferrari 3200, since i've never really had a need for widescreen except for movies, and for that i have a tv.

I remember reading somewhere that AMD would be preleasing an A64 processor that utilizes less wattage usage and extend battery life, could the 4750 be upgraded to that in the future. I know DTR's are meant for all-day wireless usage, but it would be nice to get 2-3 hours on it.

AMD 3400 batter life

If i get the 4750, how do you guys think it will run, will it be hot? Oh, i have a question, i want a 3-4 hour battery life and i heard AMD was the one that could do it without getting a Pentium M..im wondering will the 4750 have that extended batter life?

Upwards of three to four hours sounds high for the build of the DTR with a 17" screen. I was guessing 2-2:30 would be max usage with the primary batter. I believe this sager model may be compatibile with the N-Charge external battery.

Hmmm Now what to get

Hmmm, thanks sbc. 2-2 1/2 is still ok with me. Now im thinking if its worth the wait to get the 4750, will it be good you think? The XPS is pretty bulky, along with the 9100 and they have short battery life spans, the Ferrari 3200 only has 512 mb ram, so i kinda like the make of this. I heard the the 8790 ran hot some of the time, so im wondering how this will add up with the AMD processor. I think that this is the laptop for me..i just hope its not toooo expensive . Anyway any opinions on how this might match up in price against the AX7 would be nice, as soon as pctorque releases it. Thanks for any info

My brother, hes in the airforce in Keesler MS - tech school? he got his 9100 to last for 5 hours on one battery, he probably over exagerated. Probably like 3 or 4 but he had to turn everything off and set resolution very low.

I wonder if i could get my new sager [arriving today] to do that?

Only if you locate a nearby Einstein-Rosen bridge.

the 4750 should last for years as far as gaming goes, and u could probably upgrade it somewhere down the line (new mobo, cpu, gpu, ram) courtesy of sager. amd lasts quit a bit longer than intel cpu cuz of lower clock speeds, so i'd say 2 hours minimum, but from what i hear no one hardly ever uses their batteries. o and the 4750 should be cheaper than the ax7, hyper is expensive.

4750 r0x my world!!!

I agree Ogre, I am pretty excited about the 4750 as well. How much do you think gaming will take a hit due to the lack of dual channel memory? I think that as long as the gig of ram is in there everything should be ok. I still want to know about that kensington lock port, on the mtech website, http://www.mtechlaptops.com/specific...mtechd470k.htm, it says that the d470k has a lock port on it. Will sager be using the same chasis with the same ports? Thanks for any help

Both machines appear to use Clevo as the ODM (ironically enough, the Clevo model number is D470K, as listed in the topic of this thread); ergo, both machines are the same.

By the transitive property, you can safely assume this feature is indeed included. In fact, cannot readily recall a recent notebook that is devoid of this feature.

And worth every penny of it, IMHO:
-72 hour burn-in testing prior to shipping
-better basic dead-pixel warranty (1 or more vs. 6 or more)
-better parts replacement warranty (free overnight shipping)
-uses Arctic Silver on it's CPU/GPUs (instead of thermal tape)
-OS is optional
-free ground shipping

How much was your AX7? I wonder if i should get this computer or go for the already available model or the mayhem g3? To many decisions.
