The windows defragger is lacking and i've been using Norton for a while. Is there anything else better?

what's lagging about the windows defragger?

I've always found Windows to be a nice option. With regular defragmenting you shouldn't need an outside utility. Disk keeper is an option i've heard some ppl talk about.

I use, O&O Defrag Pro. I heard it's one of the best. There was a review of best defraggers a while ago. Can't remember what site, but O&O was the winner. They compared all the well-known degragging programs out there. Windows/Disk keeper/Nortons Speedisk/etc.

I've read of O&O Defrag also. It got good reviews. Do you think it's worth the price?

Windows defragger is ok. But you can't schedule it and it doesn't defrag the swap space.

It's good if you get it for free. hahaha

I use O&O 2000 Defragger ver 35562 Edition (freeware) {this is not a direct link} and have been very happy with it. It was created and optimized for the Win2000 suite of OS's but it has worked fine in WinXP.

It does not have the bells & whistles of its Professional version, and it will choke if it tries to move a +4 Gig file on FAT32 (in this case, I just use regular Win defragger). Otherwise, I believe it's defrag algorithm is better than the standard defragger.

I downloaded the share ware of O&O Defrag and am giving it a try. The interface is a no brainer and set up was a snap. I'm defragging my harddrive now. 56% fragmented

I like the defragger in Norton Systemworks...not sure if i am talking about the same type of defrag...but it works well for me

norton is definitely too slow and obsolete for modern drives. i know pcmag does an annual utility review, so check their site and look for their editor's picks.
