Sager 4750

The long awaited day has finally come, the Sager 4750 has been officially announced as of 6/27. Amd 64 3400+, ati 9700, 17" WSXGA+, it's the laptop of everyone's dreams! I've been trolling here for ages and researching laptops for eons, and i've finally decided that this is the lappy for me. Anyone else agree? The only thing lacking is PCI-Express, but that won't be out in laptops til '05 (and I need a lappy for college by Sept.). And what's to worry about? Sager periodically offers to upgrade older models with new mobos and GPUs. 4750 here I come!!!

Ages?? and Eons?? -- I doubt it.

If the 4750 "trips your trigger" - go for it.

Sager has had a lot of other machines that "trip my trigger" more - i.e., the 8790 - Now that's a machine (and so is the 8890).

Oh, by the way, there is a lot more lacking than the PCI-Express; however, that may be a matter of functionality, requirements, expectations, and personal "tastes".

Good luck with the 4750 - it should fit your needs and expectations.

I'm looking to buy a notebook soon and hope that a better idea of price comes out soon so I can consider whether or not I should wait for this notebook.

ever heard of hyperbole? the only other thing lacking on the 4750 that is of any real importance is a 2nd hard drive, which im willing to sacrifice for amd 64.

if there were an 8750 then that would be a beast and a half

I know the 4750 is coming but where did you find it for sale. I don't see any mention of it on the Sager site.

I've been waiting for an AMD notebook from Sager for a while too and I'm ordering it asap along with a Crumpler bag and a few other things. Can't wait...

Speaking as the epitome of hyperbole incarnate (those around this forum would likely attest to such), am reminded of Nietzsche's thoughts on decisions, adversity, and the like (paraphrased from the german, of course):

"That which does not kill me makes me stronger." Somehow, you managed to survive those ages and eons. Well done.

As for your decision, wish you much luck with your purchase.

any idea when prices will be up?

IMHO,
It's also lacking the 9700 GPU w/256mb DDR and the FX-53...
just my .02

I am also going to get this laptop, I too have waited for an amd laptop by sager that's worth it. This laptop is going to be reasonably priced i believe, at least I hope. Oh, in replay to YellowC4S, when the hell is the fx-53 coming out for laptops and for what machines? and do you really need it, requirements for games right now are like 800Mhz recommended. In addition what game needs 256mb for video? I think this is going to be a good buy, I can't wait to get my own.

alright its simple amd-fx chips blow the pants off most chips right now. And games like doom 3 are gonna want around 2 ghz to run well.

Is that a lock slot on the right side of the laptop near the ATI sticker?

Wow i think i am going to wait for this lappy. But does only 2 usb 2.0 ports hurt as opposed to the 3 usb 2.0 on the 8790?
