CL 56 System stuttering/hanging?

I have had my compal 56 (from powernotebooks.com, Powerpro 5:6 Force) for the past month, and I have started noticing a hangup that I can only described as a stutter. It comes up mostly when playing media, and will be a skip that will repeat a sound 3 times really quickly before moving on. It doesn't make anything unlistenable or watchable, just an annoyance. I thought it was perhaps my media player, but the same stutter happens on startup when windows xp plays its little start-up ditty.

I recently updated to windows xp pro, and had that mismatched dll problem everyone seems to be having when repairing or upgrading xp, but I don't know if there's any chance this caused it. Any one have suggestions, similar situations? Thanks.

Odd, have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers?

PS: ChemBook 2056 = Compal CL56 in case you're wondering

I'm not positive, I'll have to work with it till it happens again. but I think it may be the system, and I only notice it because of the sound. My mouse function seems to hang for that fraction of a second as well. I'll try that tonight though, thans for the input.

Okay... a post on the Powernotebooks forums has me thinking it is being cause by my wireless card. When I upgraded to Pro, it shut my wireless abilities down conpletely, I'm assuming because of a driver problem. I reinstalled both the Gigabyte drivers and the EZ-link utilities, and wireless started back up. It gives me an error whenever windows loads despite many reinstalls that something wasn't installed properly, but never shuts the wireless down as it claims it will until its repaired.

If I turn off the wifi switch, the problem doesn't happen. Anyone have any suggestions to edit my settings or an update that should fix the problem?

nobody has any other suggestions? I am at a loss, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all things wireless many times now, and to no availe. SOmething is definitely up with the configuration somewhere, because it was perfectly fine before my upgrade when the people at Powernotebooks configured the set-up themselves. The lagging happens most commonly when I am playing with the G Ez-link utility, or turning the wireless on and off within that tol, not by the switch on the side. I tried not installing this program at all, and it seemed to work, but after tthe next restart the problem was back

I'd restore to the original set-up from the system disks and try again. Also, don't update any drivers through windows update, maybe that caused a conflict.
