Hi, i recently found out this bug and called Acers' support centre in Taiwan
they said it is a bug within xp but i dunno whether to take their words for it

it's nothing big just that when i click properties on my computer, with AC plugged in it sometimes show CPU at 1.59Ghz which is CPU power when AC IS NOT PLUGGED IN
and sometimes it even shows 793MHz when both AC is plugged in or when it is not plugged in

anyone has similar problem and are there any software to test CPU's real speed? assuming it is a bug within xp

edit: you have to click the properties more than 2 or 3 times to see the different numbers

That's not a bug, since PowerNow! is enabled in Windows XP that functions no matter if the AC is plugged in or not. It automatically throttles the clock speed and voltage of the CPU and effectively lower the power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance on demand. When running a CPU demanding application it will run at stock clock speed and voltage ofourse, so this is nothing to worry about.

If this bothers you, then you can always disable it by selecting Home/Office Desk in Control Panel>>Power Options>>Power Schemes

thanks for the clarification...if i do want to let it continue running say at 1.8 at ac power or 1.59Ghz during batt power so i have to change power scheme, which one should i change to? desktop?

yes if you change to the highest setting (home office/desktop) it will keep the CPU clocked to its highest point at all times. this will burn up battery life, however.

I'd leave it like it is (with PowerNow! enabled), but when you're playing games or running benchmarks you should use the AC power and disable PowerNow! by changing the power scheme to desktop for best performance

For best battery time you should enable PowerNow! by changing the power scheme back to laptop.

It seems to me that the CPU runs at 1800MHz only when AC is plugged.

It's always 800MHz in battery mode even when I am running cpu intensive applcations like 3Dmarks. (Yes, I got like 10XX 3Dmarks only)

thanks for the clarification, i guess i was wrong with my understanding, i didn't know the CPU would alter its speed due to workload as well even when AC is plugged.

Hey guys, I just got a Ferrari 3200 tonight. I had to re-install the entire OS though because I had some complications with the Bluetooth and my P900 phone.

The problem is I was able to recover EVERYTHING except the Ferrari Engine startup sound.

Can someone e-mail it to me? thanks josh@web-operations.com tried searching but couldnt find it...

just sent it

can you send it to me too? I want to hear before I buy

Also, is it easy to disable the sound once it has inevitably become irritating?

I found the program on the CD. It's only a little over 2MB, so I can send it. Not sure if it will work on another PC, but it will be cool to see.

What's the addy?

Does the Ferrari works fine with the SE P900? I've also a P900 and I'm planning to buy the Ferrari next week.
