Realtek lan problem on 8790

My LAN connection drops out intermittently. I am connected directly to a cable modem. If I connect my Mac when the sager drops out the Mac connects no problem. If I use the repair function it just times out. Then if I just leave it on eventually the cable modem shows a connection and I'm up and running again for perhaps a half-hour. I have tried newer drivers, older drivers, and moving the "Link speed & duplex" off auto. The cable company says there's no problem with the cable. It’s not a virus because it's been happening since I got a replacement drive preloaded from Sager and the first thing I loaded was Norton security. When I first got the computer (before my hard drive failed) everything worked great. WLAN always worked. Phantom problems like this drive me crazy. PLEASE HELP!

3.4 Northwood
Gig of ram
2 60 Gig raid 0 drives
All the other normal stuff

This probably isn't much help, but when I get "ghost" problems, I back up anything important and do a complete reformat and install. I had a problem with my WIFI, did the reformat, and everything is working great. If you've tried everything else, this is always a last resort. I recommend everyone have an external usb/firewire harddrive so you can always have a backup of everything important. I can reformat and have my computer back to it's normal state in less than an hour.

8790 Lan Problem

My 8790 sometimes connects to the campus' lan. I get that acquiring Netwrok Adress ( SP2 ) and then cable unplugged again and again until I finally get connected. However some classes I simply don't get anything I just says cable unplugged. People around me are surfing ok. I get out of the class sit on a table outside the class and get connected.

Anyone has any problems with the LAN on the 8790 like this one ?

Best Regards.

I can't do that I can't be in school without a laptop. It's a requirement.
I installed a Card in the PCMCIA slot. Will try it on Monday. If this doesn't work then I'm screwed. I will probably send it back during next vacations.

Best Regards.
