Laptop Quit Working

Hey all,
Just today I was using my laptop on its battery, I left it on and went to do some other work for awhile and while I was gone the battery went dead and the laptop shut off. I tried pluggin the laptop in and when I start it all that happens is the fans turn on inside and the led's turn on (power led is green, battery is orange) 3/4 leds on the main part are on all but the hdd led. When the power is turned on, the screen seems to light up but doesnt display anything. I cant remember if the laptop beeps once when it starts up, but it doesnt beep at all now.
Anyone know whats wrong with my 86? I have a Lan party tomarrow and I dont really want to miss it because of this.
Thanks!

In addition, I have tried Fn + Esc, Fn + F6, and trying to change the display brightness, none have worked, Any Ideas?

You might be stuck in a sleep of power mode, try to push and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds and then again to see if it boots up. If that doesn't work, remove the AC power and the main battery for a few seconds then put both back on and try to boot, that should take care of it.

Unfortunately that didn't work. After I removed the battery and AC for a few seconds and then put them back It wouldn't even turn on. It stopped doing that now, it will turn on, but nothing has changed with the screen.

Have you tried an external monitor to see if anything is displayed on it? You may have the same problem the member prophecy had and Sager replaced the unit for him.

Yes I have tried an external monitor, I would try the tv out but our tv doesn't have Svideo in. Do you suggest I try to get an RMA from Sager?

Unfortunately yes. Sagers have looked to be very problem free, but nothing's 100%. They should take care of you immediately with an RMA. Sorry for the troubles and let me know if you need any assistance.

It seems as if the problems with Sager laptops is in the extreme minority. Anyway, I plan on calling Sager, or emailing them for an RMA, but I was wondering. I have buisness criticle data on the hard drive, would Sager have a problem with me sending the laptop sans the hard drive?
Also, Adam, you have been extremely helpful with my purchase and this unfortunate problem. Thank you very much.

Also, do you know if the svideo out is controled by gpu at all? I have a feeling that the Radeon went out as it was giving me graphical glitches and random pauses which I just thought were the program itself being glitchy. Oh well, hopefully the next laptop will be better!
Thanks

They shouldn't have a problem with it if you request to keep it for that reason.
I'm not for sure about the S-VID question though. I would think it is.

I had the same issue and they sent me a new laptop sans hard drive, then when I received it I swapped hard drives and sent the old one back. So yes, you can keep your hd.

Thanks a lot man! I have finals in a week @ school and all of my java apps are on that hd and I need them lol well this is good news.

I wonder what Dell or a similar company would do in this situation. I have a feeling they wouldnt send you another computer first and then have you send in your old one. Another reason to buy Sager!

Did Sager tell anyone what the problem was with this issue? Like did they know what was causing this to happen and correct the problem in future notebooks? That would be another sign of goodness, lol, so to speak, but I would really like to know.

I would also like to know this. And what are the chances of this happening again say in a year when the warranty expires.

I have no idea, hopefully never again, anyway, I think I'm going to buy the extended warranty if I can.

No, it's not an issue and these are the only 2 that have had a screen just go blank I promise you. These might be different things that caused each of their problems.
lol, understood. I didn't mean to use the word "issue" as though it was a huge problem :-) I just was wondering if what was experienced by the two people on this thread was a design flaw, and it obviously wasn't based on what you just said. There was no doubt in my mind, I just meant to alleviate doubt on other people's minds.

Yea, dont worry from what I can see we are the only two. I am still completely happy with my laptop (Kinda wish it had a faster gpu but hey can't have everything) and am looking forward to getting a replacement!

For a laptop the GPU is sweet, lol, I only wish I had the M9... I've got the M7, which is great too, but I don't have much memory... I still run everything pretty well, though. Plus great battery times.

Yea the GPU is great for a laptop, I can't complain about that, but hey who doesn't want more than what they can have.

Anyway, I finally recieved an email from Sager. They wanted me to remove the battery and just use the ac. I knew this wasn't going to work but I tried it anyway and reported back to Sager with the unhappy news. Hopefully I can just get an RMA tomarrow so I can get the laptop back before I go on vacation on the 21st (which is the whole reason I got the lappy in the first place, besides no more lugging crt's around for Lan parties). Oh well if not, I'm sure I wouldn't have time to use it anyway.

Say Adam, you're from around Boston correct? Do you have any good tourist attraction ideas? I hear they have a tech museum with a huge (working) computer, like 2 stories tall. I remember doing a report on it when I was a sophomore 2 years ago, It would be kinda neat to check out.

Well thanks again!
