Best bang for my buck?

My friend who is also going to college has a 1000 dollar budget and needs a new DESKTOP computer for college. He is a vivid gamer, doesnt matter AMD or Intel. He just wants a decent computer that is good for gaming.

Anyone that has any links to any systems or websites that fit this description, hollar up. No monitor needed.

cheap systems that look great on paper at least, as for service i have no idea, try doing a search on these forums for any feedback
