NO answer?
i doubt it happened. i guess it was just his cheezy responce to all the "IBM is too good but too $$$" posts.

They did lower their prices on a few models last week.
Not a huge deal, however.

The shareholder or educational pricing is better, usually 10-15 percent off the website price.

You can honestly say now, though, that IBM's are not the most expensive laptop possible anymore (like they used to be). However, if their quality is dropping is another question that would have to be answered by someone who has ordered and received one lately.

abf...why would someone just make up that IBM's prices dropped? that was the stupidest thing i have ever heard

seriously abf; you're the one with the cheezy response.
Oh my lord! IBM sure is expensive! I guess I'll just tell everyone that IBM has just witnessed a price drop. (this is sarcasm)
you should become a detective because you so readily pick up on the motives of others.

i just expressed my opinion. i had a feeling there would be a minor drop, but nothing major like 20% off sticker. i am too lazy to do research (you load all that crap with 56k) i just posted something for the hell of a post.

I stop by IBM's website every freaken day before I settled for my nc6000. Anyway, I was eye-ing the T42 2378FVU (1.7 SXGA+) model, it was at $2050, now it's $1850. But I just found out that that's the price the stores are selling them at anyway...

Nah, you'll still lose everything below the knee.
You probably made the right decision. The 2378FVU is the one that people are saying comes with a bulging spot in the case below the LCD hinges, and rubs when you try to open the LCD. People on the thinkpad forum are trying to decide if it is a manufacturing defect/assembly error by IBM.
Go to www.thinkpads.com, go to the new forum and search for 2378FVU and you will feel MUCH better about your nc6000 purchase!!!
Congrats!!!!
(yes, I admit it, I have now read far too much about notebooks on the web!)
