Actually, I have never taken off those stickers. My 3.5 year-old Sager 8500 still sports its fragile sticker--definitely in better condition than its paint job. It sort of makes it seem more heavy-duty if I have something blaring out this is a sensitive piece of equipment, so don’t be so stupid as to put more than four pounds of weight on the lid.
Of course, this is from the person who tried really hard not to take off the plastic sheet that was protecting the screen. I tried for almost 2.5 years with the 8500. Everyone at work rejoiced when I finally had to take it off. The trick was ignoring the infrequent bubble or ripple and concentrating on the screen. It wasn't as full of bubbles as my 8790's was, which allowed me to do that.
