Excessive Fan Operation?

i began to feel that my fans were running excessively, so i timed it today.

9:50:00 the fan turns on
9:52:15 the fan turns off
9:55:15 the fan turns on

my fans are clean as i recently cleaned them and didn't find that much of anything in there. the heatsink and CPU chamber are also clean. i have not AS'ed my cpu, and have been unable to get henriks temp monitor to work.

all i have running is a couple firefox windows, photoshop, and kazaa lite along with mcafee and adaware, < 400 MB memory, and < 3% CPU usage. it's just sitting idle

is this excessive? i have a podium style notebook cooler and am using 2 spacers to eleveate it.

1 up 2 down

KidVI,

Your systems fans do not seem to work excessively!

My Sager's fans run a little less then half the time. Let's say 1 minute up, 2 minutes down. When it's idle that is...

Don't stress over it, my fans are almost always on for some reason, even after applying AS5 several times and having a clean heatsink and a room that's reasonably cool

thats pretty wierd because i touch the plastic panel on top of the cpu, and it doesn't feel that warm.

Try MobileMeter.

80/85F Room temperatures will cause the unit to be about 2/4C higher than in a room that is is 75F or so.

Sounds like it is just "keeping up" and keeping the laptop cool.

The plastic on the bottom is well insulated, it never really gets all that hot. Two layer design, metal, then plastic, with a small airspace in between. Makes it somewhat bearable when using on your lap...
