I still love my 8887 beast!
When I was at the Pomona (California) computer show, I saw SAGER themselves (aka their Nutron Computer outlet) and another reseller all displaying EVERY model!
It was so slick to cruise down the table and see everything from the 2xxx's to the 8887's and all models in between.
Oddly, NONE of the 5670's or 8887's had the 3.06 processors. Maybe for the show they push the less-powerful ones - the ones that are clogging up the inventory, like all the SXGA models (so the prices are WELL below $2000, some near $1,000).
I have the flyers somewhere, I was gonna mail them to Adam for kicks.
I really liked the 4240 (? whatever the 4xxx model is), was fairly light and had a nice feel.
I am also glad I didn't get the 5670 - YES, I saw the screen (it was 4" away from the 8887) and sure, the angle was nice, but they are pretty close when used like a normal person would (e.g. in front of them).
For the little weight difference, I'm glad I went 8887 and it's 5 spindles. This was really great, because I have never seen the other models in person, and was VERY curious about the 56xx...
And as is typical at the WORLD'S LARGEST computer show (that happens monthly) I saw ALL KINDS of laptops: even the new SONYs - which I have to say LOOK nice, until you pick it up and feel it. Egads, that's some cheap crap.
PS: I edited the question for the poll-topic, for clarity
