Radeon error crashed computer

Wonder if there are any newer drivers for the 5660? Was playing warcraft and it crashed and then when i rebooted, XP said it was a drawing function that did it.

That means the graphics card locked up, only overclocking or severe overheating will cause that (only in very rare cases with unsable drivers that may happen).

Did you overclock it? What drivers do you have installed? Let us know if it happens again, but as NS said, keep the lappy away from tight and unventilated spots while gaming cuz that's when it'll get hottest (most use of all of its parts, lol).

I never overclocked or changed anything from the factory defaults. And I was playing on a table with nothing near the vents.

It's only happened once so far, but I also have not been gaming much lately. I'll post if it happens again.

Same Same Here

Tonight my Sager locked up playing BF1942. Had to do a hard reset and when XP booted to desktop, same message said something to the effect that "XP has recovered from a fatal error and that the ATI drivers Bla bla bla and drawing function bla bla". This might be a heat issue, as the Sager's fans were really humming at high speed. Well if this is not a BF1942 issue (I have also had lockups\reboots on my desktop comp playing BF1942, since the 1.2 patch) and I even think its heat related this sucka going back to sager before the 30 day return policy expires. Its also very cold were I live so its not ambeint room temps. Oh also nothing overclocked everything stock.
Hmm..... I fail to see heat as the Issue as my M9 is heavily overclocked and hasnt locked once even playing Doom 3.

What drivers are you all using........

Hmm...Hmm..What?

As you said "That means the graphics card locked up, only overclocking or severe overheating will cause that"
I said everything was stock including the vid drivers 6.13.10.6178.
I also stated that I might be a BF1942 issue and I have not had any other issues playing other games, i.e SOF2 Panzer Elite Mohaa, etc, etc.

So?

Yeah, but the fact prodigy had the same problem leads me to think otherwise.

Ill post the latest supported (and apparently impossible to find) M9 Drivers on Monday,

See if that helps.

Drivers?

Then perhaps a driver issue? Yea post the link to the proper 6200 drivers would be helpful, as this ATI driver thing gets a little confusing, as far as which 6200 driver version to use. I strongly believe is a buggy bf1942 1.2 patch, as many others are having the same lockup\XP reboots.
I have been puting this 5660 through its paces, as far as running games on it to see if all this hardware\case\cooling has been designed correctly to compensate for heat build up. So far no problems except for tonight. I bought this unit to play games on and nothing else. I have however been keeping one eye on how it removes heat from the system.

Go to this thread:

And follow the directions later in it. There is a link there for the drivers that NS uses, so you can try it.

As far as BF1942, I get kicked out all the time, especially when using mods for it (were you using any?). My lappy heats up, but never do heat problems cause a shut down. My lappy isn't a sager, but if your system locked up and windows showed an ATI error, I would guess it is drivers, but then again the drivers prolly wouldn't have caused the same thing to happen in Warcraft most likely. So, I dunno... One more "then again"... you have had no trouble with other comparable games, so... Lol, I'll work on it when I get the 8886 definitely, because I want to make sure the design is right as well (and make sure everyone knows that it is/is not and what precautions are necessary if any. NS's setup leads me to believe that the sagers are definitely built well... Let us know how things turn out!

(Anyone else had these problems?)
Well I have problems playing the game. I get about .5fps at 640x480 and my colors are screwed up. But I guess that's due to the fact that I'm still running on a PII 400, ATI Mobility P (8mb) card Yes, I am in desperate need of a new laptop

lol, looks like an Atari GAme

plays like one too. I get yellow sqaures as bullets. This was also using powerstrip and overclocking the core and memory from 83/83 to a blistering 110/110
post #14 of 31
Lol, the reason you are getting it like that is because your graphics card does not have Hardware Transform & Lighting support. My current desktop card does the same thing. You will definitely need a better graphics card to play it. I'm surprised it even opens :-) lol.

Games normally have an Option to dissable HW T&L, have a look for it in the external setup porgram (if there is one) or the ingame options. And, unless you turned it on yourself, I dont see why it would be on as they normally check before hand.

NS
The minimum requirements for this program include hardware support for HT&L, so I don't think the program has a place to turn it off. I have yet to find one on my copy. You think there is somewhere in the setup files where you can manually edit the file to turn it off? (That would be nice for those who need it, but I highly doubt if it's the case)

1942 is such a taxing game. It's actually very difficult to move around even in the Options/setup screens It took about 15minutes - 1/2 hour to actually load a game Strangely enough UT2003 actually runs much better on my laptop than 1942. At least in that I can get about 3-5fps and somtimes over 10+ without many graphical glitches. Water effects actually look pretty decent which was surprising to me. Eventually I'll be able to get that new sager that so many of you have been sporting on here but until then I try and squeeze as much juice as I can from my current setup.

lol, yeah, UT2k3 doesn't have the textures that bf does... it has different innovations though. Surprised it works at all too, lol.

HAPPENED AGAIN!!!

AHHHHH!!! Elf need new drivers, badly! Warcraft 3 again. Any ideas how to fix this? Hardly been gaming at all, so this seems pretty scary.

Hmm... I'm lost as to why it would do that. When you installed your drivers initially, did you do them in the proper order? I think you should go to the drivers thread under the tech support forum and get the drivers Nightshade has installed...

http://sagerforums.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=2

It's somewhere in there, lol. Post if you need help at all! Good luck!

(Anyone else play Warcraft 3?? I'll try it on the 8886 when I get it...)
