Well this isn't going to be an indepth review or anything since there are allready enough of those around. This is just going to be a brief overview of the laptop and a few things.

Specs: 15" SXGA+ Screen
1.7ghz Dothan
1024mb of PC2700 RAM
60g 7200rpm HD
Radeon 9700 128mb
and then the usual stuff for a CL56

First things first. I ordered from the place that *discounts laptops* (the url is banned from use on the forum). They were VERY VERY helpful and quick with respones. I could even get ahold of a tech's cellphone if it was really important. It shipped out fast, and they even went out of their way to save me 50 bucks by waiting a few days to ship it so I could take advantage of a promotion they were offering that had just started. Their reseller rating is definatly a great refletion on the company.

Now to the lappy. Here I do have a few gripes, but nothing huge. First I do have a dead pixel . I guess you can't win em all. It is smack dab in the center of the screen, however it looks to be a black, or dark blue color, so it is really only noticeable on a white screen, and I've allready learned to ignore it so it really isn't that bad.

My second gripe is that the spacebar key seems to be lifting up (bent?) in the top right corner, more so than the left. It doesn't bother me now, you really have to look at it to notice, but I dont want it to break or fall off.

My thrid gripe is that it didn't shipped with the promised 19 software titles that it was supposed to, I just sent an email about it so hopefully they will ship it out to me.

I am a hardcore gamer, and so far I have yet to load a game up except ragnarok online (not very graphics intensive), but it ran that flawlessly. I will update this once I throw on WC3 and maybe 1942.

Let see what else. Touchpad is fine (hate touchpads!!! havent bought a mouse for it yet doh). Speakers arent that great, but its a laptop. Keyboard feels fine (my first lappy). QUIET QUIET QUIET. Gets warm, not hot (so far, haven't done anything intense yet). Everything registered fine, the wifi card immediatly picked up my network and bam I was on the internet 2 seconds after I booted it up for the first time .

The screen does have sucky viewing angles, however, this is my first lappy screen, I'm used to playing games on my 19" Trinitron (the beast), and this screen isn't that bad honestly. It is easy to get used to (its also alot easier to fit in your lap ).

Everything seems to be in working order, Ill throw on some updates once I get everything set up.

Nah, its not worth returning over just one dead pixel, even if they paid for shipping. I am keeping this laptop unless there is a MAJOR problem with it. Also, explain what you mean by "backlight" problem. Do you mean is it hard to see the screen? Does it fade? I dont really understand what your asking heh. Also they are sending me out that software pack free of charge, these guys are great!
