Need help with IBM Thinkpad G40

Hello (new poster to this forum)...

I received an IBM Thinkpad G40 as a gift recently, and (call me stupid but) I couldn't determine the exact model number, which I'd like to know. Did I miss something? I looked around online, and there are so many G40's with so many configurations that it's ridiculous.

If someone could help me determine it from the serial number, I'd appreciate it... is there a particular range for each model? I *think* mine is the 2384-B9U. I don't want to list the serial number here, but if you could possibly help please drop me an Email (preferred) or PM.

There should be an IBM app installed on you laptop that gives all the information about the config, model etc...

Take a took at the control panel and try the IBM stuff that's in it

Looks like it's a 2388-9DU (slower processor, smaller HD than I thought... bah, oh well). Thanks for the suggestion.
