Help! My Pc Card Slot Stop Working!
I have a 5660 running XP Pro...2.8Ghz P4

all of a sudden if i put any type of PC Card, wireless...pcsvision...anything it doesnt see it...what do i do ???? i looked for the drivers on the sager website, but they only have them for 2000, and in the device manager it says my PC Card BUS is working properly, these cards work fine in my other XP machines, and it just started doing this , it has worked fine up until now, is it the hardware ?

Does it have a yellow exclaimation mark in the DEVICE MANAGER list?

(right-click on My Computer, select MANAGE, then click DEVICE MANAGER)

It may be the drivers are corrupted, but as you have seem, there are no drivers to install, as the PCMCIA stuff is built into Windows. You could DELETE the entry for the PC slot in the DEVICE MANAGER and then re-scan/re-install them (windows should find them). If the actual files (orig & backup that win keeps) are corrupt, you may have to do the above, except browse the XP cd for the drivers.

it does not have the exclamation mark, what the problem is that whenever before i would put these cards in, XP would notify me alomost immediately that they see them, now they will not

what if its a hardware issue ?

It does sound like it could be a hardware issue. I've not heard of it before, but I suppose one could have thier PCMCIA slot fry... Are you still under warranty? You may need to RMA your machine if so.

PCMCIA slots are like PS/2 and Parallel slots, their drivers and function are pretty common and well-covered by all BIOS/OS built-in drivers... so for one to stop functioning, really sounds like a hardware problem (I was hoping it was a corrupted windows driver, hence my post above); however, give Sager a call and speak to their tech support, I'm sure you'll need an RMA (if still under warranty).

PS: I deleted the duplicate post you made in Sager General, as this thread covers it well enough.
