I agree the HP symbol scared me at first, but with the new hardware, VERY quiet and virtually no heat, it seems good.

The x600 is based on the same core as the 9600 so you should probably be scoring 2600-3000ish in 3DMark03 depending on the clock speeds

So this isn't really that shocking that I have one here, we will see these all over in a month I bet. Great, now I have to wait for it. haha

Those benchmark numbers do not impress me, I don't think we'll se an optimized version for mobo gaming for a while, personally.

They don't impress anyone here, obviously this driver isn't taking advantage of the available pipelines yet, hence the reason I need a new driver. ;o) Oh well, time will tell. Wish someone here new how to take the X800 driver and hack it to work on this. haha

maybe a friendly linux could help. Using that os is like hacking.

It's performance still won't be all that impressive, except maybe for the increased CPU and memory FSB which is supposed to accompany it. The Mobility X600 is pretty much a Mobility 9700 with a PCI-Express interface, and a couple of added features for LCD panel specific stuff.

Future upgradeability via AXIOM or MXM is the real reason for excitement about upcoming PCI-Express notebooks. The initial notebooks aren't gonna show breakthrough performance compared to the latest AGP/PCI notebooks with quality components, as they're pretty much the same components connected with different buses.

But, the fact that there's PCI-Express notebook prototypes out there already is pretty cool in itself.
