Is it comfortable?

It's very comfortable. The shoulder straps are padded well, and it also has a lot of padding on the back. It's very roomy. I can fit my 8790 with all the accessories in there and still have a lot of room. I couldn't be happier with the bag.

Well, any bag would make it easier than carrying it without one. The bag is very comfortable and has more than enough room for my monster.

but would it be easier to carry than a messenger bag?
mayaman, I have the exact same bag and would definitely recommend it. What it has over the messenger style bags is that you distribute the weight over both shoulders. In my case I will soon be using it to carry the laptop, mouse, AC adapter, 2 notebooks (paper), and two 700+ page books. Hopefully they'll all fit. But it is all important for me to be able to comfortably carry all of it. That's gotta be around 25-30 lbs and carry that on one shoulder while walking around campus is just not going to cut it. I know I'd probably be leaning at a 30 degree angle to one side after I walk about 2 miles around campus with that.

btw....I was also looking into the Ogio Metro and Ogio Capitalist. Someone from Ogio finally wrote back to me saying that neither of these bags could fit the monster (8790) so I went with this one. No regrets, but then again I haven't used it much yet. Lots of support padding on the back! Can't emphasize that enough...there is a lot.

drawmonster, where can I purchase this backpack and how much did you pay for it? I'm looking at getting that bag for my Inspiron 9100, and it looks like it fits your Sager very well.

I bought mine from PCTorque when I ordered my 8790. Try www.froogle.com and search for the bag. You should be able to find it for a decent price on there. I paid $76 I think.

The ArchAngel,

I paid about $76 through Amazon. They have both the 312 and 315 (same exact bag just different colors). Would have bought mine through PCTorque but I didn't know which bag I wanted when I ordered my laptop.

Targus 312
Targus 315

Their newest bag somewhat in the same class is this one:
Targus XL

Very cool. Looks like I'll be getting one as well for casual days. I can't have a backpack wearing suit and tie, but the vanguard is appropriate for that.

What kind of padding does it have at the top & bottom of the bag in case of a drop?

I have the Targus CBT200 and it works pretty darn slick w/ my 8790. Fits perfectly. Doesn't have the roominess of the backpack, though.

However, I was in the same boat and didn't want to be carrying around a backpack if I had to look presentable at some point in time. Also, I do travel somewhat frequently and I wanted to be able to carry clothes, etc. in a backpack and still be able to have my 8790 w/ me. Airlines sometimes say you're allowed one carry-on, but they fudge that rule if you've got a notebook w/ you.

Anyway, if you opt out of the backpack, definitely keep the CBT200 in mind. Great build quality and the padded strap is light years ahead of the standard one included w/ the PC Torque order.

Is it harder to carry though? i would think a 10 pound+ 3 pound bag (seems the norm) would be hard to shoulder. but rather easy to carry by back? am i wrong?
