My HP Deskjet 612C died last week, exactly 1 month before it's 5th b-day. It wasn't even in heavy use, although it did do some traveling and had 3 owners. I replaced it today with a Deskjet 842C that was made on May 27 2000. My guess, this time next year, it will be in the dump or selling on ebay "as-is" for 1 cent NR. This was a real eye opener considering I am due to put in the order for the R3000z on July 11. I am not planning to keep the Z for 5 years as far as I know, 3 years is more like it. But seeing it died so fast, ouch! My old printer was a '95 Samsung and guess what..STILL WORKING! when i got rid of it. Anyway, this was just a thought. Hope the Lappys are more sturdy than the printers.
