I would ask them (Richard?) at least for faster shipping of a replacement. Having a system fail right out of the box is not in the same category as failures that might occur after a couple of weeks, since it raises doubts about some basic quality control (although damages during shippment do happen).
Nice suggestion KCK. I'm going to do just that. I paid to ship it back to him. I'm going to ask him for 3 day shipping on the return. After all, it's just simple courtesy; next time don't give me a faulty product.

I would personally ask rjtech to "hold" a credit card number on file, and to ship you out an expedited brand new replacement tomorrow (or as soon as he can get one assembled, tested and ready to ship.)
They may not do it, but it can't hurt to ask.
I do not believe that a product received essentially DOA should be troubleshooted and repaired on YOUR time.
I think it should be replaced with a brand new perfectly working unit.

I would at least ask.

Tourney-- that completely sucks. Hope everything works out.
now I'm worried too..I just bought the mitac today from rjtech.

please let us know how it all works out in case some other unfortunate person runs into the same problem.

it was a defective gpu which wasn't rjtech's fault; although they should have tested the laptop before sending it. However, laozx ordered a barebone from rjtech and had no problems with his.
Anyway, I got an email from richard wu today he said that he would give me 3 day shipping instead of ground (which takes 6 days)

That's why I bought from PCTorque. When I was able to consistently reproduce and document the glitch, I got in contact with Adam and the guys at PCTorque and they promtly responded and paid for shipping both ways, seeing as this was replacement of a "defective" product. Their response to this (and other) issues has been nothing but outstanding - such a relief to have that level of service. Now anyone I know who is buying a notebook is getting it from PCT as per my urging, and I will certainly buy my next one from them as well.

they might have good service but the thing that counts is giving a working product to the customer the first time. I believe Cacofonix also ordered from rjtech and he had problems to. I hope the best for you.

I had this problem with my desktop , a geForce 4 4200...

The problem was static ...

When I installed the card I didnt ground myself well enough ....

when I booted I had lines like yours in my screen , could do nothing about it ... GFX card was wrecked, I knew what I did wrong too. Hated that night so badly.

... .... ..... Then upon waranty exchange the guy mistaken the 4200 box for the 4600 box and he asked me : "Thats the one right ?"

I replied : "... .... ... YES .... yes thats the ... thats the one .... >.> *whistles*"

Anyway , Im 99% certain your Richard pal had a little problem installing your GPU chippy
