Spilled water on my M60 Keyboard!!

Bah!

I spilled water on my M60 keyboard. The machine powered off right after by itself!

I let it dry for 12 hours and (used a hairdryer for a few hours and had it in my airconditioned bedroom for like 8 hours).

Now when I turn it on the green lights just flash and it turns off!!! Is the motherboard blown? Is this covered in the warranty?? (the M60 has som 3 year warranty thing) and Ive only had it like 1 month or so...

Please help!

Sounds like its fried. Unless you have Complete Care, you are probably out of luck.

3 Years Next Business Day (8x5) Onsite Response (Parts + Labor)

What does this mean:

3 Years Next Business Day (8x5) Onsite Response (Parts + Labor)

Does it mean I PAY for Parts & Labor or DELL Does? This is what came with my M60 anyways.

Yeh you may be SOL. Unless you have complete 'accidental coverage' Dell probaby won't fix it for free. You would likely need to purchase a new system board or whatever else got fried.

Oh crap...

Does ANYONE have a "estimated" price on a new system board? Are we talking $100 or $1000???

They fixed my broken motherboard for free. Just act like you have no clue why it broke. I actually got the at home warrantee, that just made it easier. But they should replace it anyways, as long as you still have a warantee.

Yeh I would try this approach as well. Just play as dumb as you can, like you have no idea what's going on inside a computer. But know that in the event of water damage, they will be able to tell that it was in fact water damage. Just pray for a good tech that will swap the parts anyway.

And that is exactly why I stress the need for Accidental Damage Protection.

Do you know why that is exactly? I remeber seeing that information on Dell's website.
Does Florida's government have some form of policy against this?

Florida doesn't allow extended warranties like the complete care. They consider it like insurance which can only be sold by an insurance company.

A bit late perhaps, but see "If Your Dell Computer Gets Wet" in the User's Guide

http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems...ms.htm#1104568

Also the Service Manual comes useful is such cases
