BAH!
After 2 days I am giving up and gonna ask for help.
I purchased a Netgear WGR614 wireless router. Works great out of the box. Even get 11mbps at 20+ feet.
. I have been having config issues trying to set up WEP with the router and my 8890.
1) Can't chnage the log in name from admin. Got the password changed but have not found anything tha would let me change the login name. Not so much of a bigie but is there.
2) I can't seem to get WEP functions correctly. I can generate my wep keys using a passphrase but, I can't get my wireless card on my 8890 to accept the a key. The reason is that the field to imput the key is to small to hold 26 characters.
I have tried to use the passphrase in that figuring XP or the card would do the encryption and make the right key but that doesn't seem to work ether.
I also failed at restricting the router to set MAC addresses. I did learn how to find the MAC address for my system though, Voot! IN any case I thought I would post here and see if anyone could give me a nudge in the right direction. I am sure I am missing something simple but I just don't know what it is. THanks for any help.
