Your G3 runs OS 9 alright, it's your new Aluminium that can't. They removed essential ROM functions, so you can't boot under Mac OS 9 anymore. It sucks.

thsi is a bit off topic (sorry mods ), but what was the name of that funny looking mac lappy that looked sorta like an imac but with a carrying handle? i saw one on ebay today and was a tad curious, since it didn't say a specific name.

mayaman 2 let me tell you about apples. Let me tell you i have the same powerbook g4 an it is amazing I love it but trust me you dont want to see bemcharks. go to barefeats.com they will show macs getting crushed by pc's. Pc will and always will be faster than a mac. My 4750 sager runs cricles arounf my powerbook g4 17incg 1.5ghz. I would say a 1.5ghz is comparable to a 2.4ghz pentium 4. not that fast and when gaming it is comparable to a 1.5ghz pentium 4 I love mac and I have both a powerbook g4 and my sexy sager 4750

There's nothing wrong with bringing back an old thread if you have something relevant to add to it.

And on that note I just want to chime in and say that I've had my PB for a month now and I really really love it. I didn't know going into it how much I was going to like it—even after having used Macs several times a week for the last 5 years, though never being able to "use them" the way I would if they were my personal computers. I have to say that after a bumpy start, after I was able to make the machine "mine" it all just sort of fell into place and I really love a lot more than I thought I would.

Of course there are things about Windows I miss; niggling little features that I grew to rely on. And for the most part I can't stand the way OSX renders on screen fonts, but otherwise I think I made a great decision. I'm actually thinking of getting a Mac desktop eventually.
