Possibly getting a 5690

Thread Starter
I have been doing some research on the 5690. I need a laptop for college (entering freshman year) and I will mainly use it for downloading, some games, and any school work that needs to be done on a computer. I am asking for some feedback if Sager is the way to go. So far I have read numerous of positive remarks about Sager and the 5690, and little complaints about both. Here are the specs I have lined up so far.....

UXGA wide angle view 15" LCD
3.2GHz P4 800 FSB w/ Hyperthreading
128 MB ATI Radeon 9700 (m11) video card
1024MB of ram
60GB 5400RPM hard drive
4X DVD+R/-R/RW/CD-RW
XP Pro
3 year warranty under 2K

Please let me know what you guys think because everyone seems to know what they are talking about. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Had mine for 1 month and 2 weeks, and DAMN I love this notebook. I only had one problem with mine, which were huge cracks that developed around the hinges, and a corner finally popped out from the cracks, but it was due to super stiff hinges my notebook had. I sent it back and got it back in 5 days with looser hinges and now it's perfect.
I'm a big gamer and this machine is a beast for games, boasting the highest 3dmark score known to notebooks. Its not loud at all, and it's pretty portable for it's weight.
Anyway, just my opinion

I've owned my 5690 for a whopping 2 days now. And all i can say is WOW. This thing really is as big of a beast as people say. I've been running games, and multi-tasking, web browsing, and even playing a few DVD's. Has executed all of them flawlessly.
As for the sound, it could be a little better, actually, a lot better. But then again i didnt buy it for its award winning sound .
I read a few complaints in other threads about the fan noise, and heat issues. i must say, i must have gotten lucky, because my fans are very quiet, and only kick in for minutes at time wile gammin on 1600x1200. As for the heat, it gets warm, if that. I owned a 4760, and that got hot. The AC Block gets a lot hotter then the fan area, tenfold. Or, maybe this is b/c my room is constantly freezing.... http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=30170 . this will give you idea of what i mean.
I highly recommend getting the UXGA screen, its worth the 80$. Good luck with it, i know i live mine!!!!
