I have the quake 3 demo package that AW installed as part of the laptop deal. im sure lots of you do to. but i noticed that on the sheet of paper that came along with system, it had a checklist of all the things plus benchmarks,.. the one that intrest me is the quake 3 test,, it shows my system having a test under quake 3 at 199.1 FPS,, now i played that game and opened the console and typed the command to see FPS,, and it only shows my quake 3 FPS at 90,,, it wont even go past 90, but it seems the game is screaming along,,??? so is there some feature that prevents it from showing more than 90 or do any of you have the same problem or is the test that AW makes for quake 3 using some other type of software to get the FPS results???

My Specs: 3.4, 15.4, 512 DDR, 60 gig HD, ATI 9600, alien adrenaline,

vsync is enabled. switch it off from either inside the game or from your video card settings.

nope, didnt make any diff,,, made sure vsync was off in game and in the video card settings in openGL and direct3,,, still same, it shows 90 FPS always?? sent a mesg to AW asking if they can tell why it only shows 90 when their test benching shows it should be 199.1 FPS,,,, have yet to hear a answer back from them...

found out how to bench it!!!!

after doing alittle research on AW knowledge fourum, i found out how to bench the quake3 demo that comes with your AW!!! just make sure you leave the setting the way they came from factory except just make sure the resolution is to 1024 like the following mesg says and follow it,, my system spec on the paper that came along with my system showed it on quake3 FPS at 199.1 i reran test and it scored a 203.6, that was without tweaking my system, all running stock settings..heres the following if you are looking to do same:

What are some useful Quake3 console commands?

Answer
The following are a list of useful console commands for Quake3 and other games using the Quake3 graphics engine. These commands will help you enable the built-in framerate counter, disable the framerate limiter that causes the frames per second (FPS) to be pegged at a certain number and will show you how to run the Quake3 Timedemo test used to measure your system's performance.

To run the Quake3 Timedemo perform the following steps:

•Set the game resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels; leave all other settings at default.

•Press the Tilde (~) key to open the console.

•Type \timedemo 1 and press Enter.

•Type \demo demo001 and press Enter.

When the demo completes (usually less than 10 seconds) open the console again and read on the last line the total frames, time and frames per second.

•To enable the framerate counter type \cg_drawfps 1 in the game console

•To disable the framerate limiter type \com_maxfps 0

•To enable the framerate limiter type \com_maxfps “and the number of FPS that you wish to be the maximum, the default is 90”

if you have any questions about what my settings are and you want to compare, system to system, just let me know
