Just bought a Asus L5000D, A64 3000+ cpu

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I just got myself an Asus L5000D lappy.

brief specs
Athlon 64 3000+ (destop processor apparently)
512M ram
64M nVidia GeForceFX 5650 Go
15" SXGA LCD (ACE thingy version)
802.11b/g WLAN
80G HD
XP Pro
4x USB
1x FW
2x PC card slots
and umm.. 7 air vents (yes 7)

I havent done any benchmarks on it yet and I doubt I'll have time unfortunately. I'm going on the road in 2 days and I have to pack and stuff.

The construction is really good. Looks really solid and the plastics feel nice. The only gripe I have is that its a little thick but having a desktop A64, I wouldnt expect it to be thin.

Err... I dont know what else to say so umm.. yeah... lol

This is my first lappy after all.

Hi
This is a notebook I'm interested in so I would be keen to hear your experieces.

How loud is the fan?
It would be great if you are able to run some bench marks. It is a pitty they don't seem to sello it with a better graphics card but the nvidia should be OK

What do you think of the screen, build quality and keyboard?

Over all it looks like a great notebook

Thanks

I just received my copy of Australian Personal Computer (APC) magazine. There are, as usual, several full page ASUS notebook ads. It looks like they have updated their AMD64 notebook to include ATI 9600 graphics card with 128meg of vram. In the Ad they refer to the model as the L5DF but it is basically your notebook with the higher end graphics card. No news on the price though.

I look forward to hearing more of your experiences with your AMD64 Asus notebook.

Does any one else out there have this notebook or something similar from ASUS. I would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks

Yeah i'm interested in this laptop as well. Unfortunately, I can't find any US retailers. Anyone else have luck finding it in the US?

I'll be checking up too, hoping for a review from pertuan (hopefully) and anyone else.

I had a good look at one of these machines in a computer store. It was brand new just out of the box. We ran 3dmark 2001SE and the score we got was 9762. Not bad for a Nvidia Go FX5650 with 64 meg of ram.

It is a great screen (asus view)

The fan came on during this process and it was reasonale. The shop was load so it was abit hard to tell
