Over 900 was the same score everyone else was getting on their dell 8200s(my old notebook) so yes it's a good score.

there is an option to change the power savings dma, cache, etc..
I have it turned off, because i dont' notice any annoying sounds (i think i'm a little more tolerant than others when it comes to this kind of stuff). but if the sounds annoy you then you should install it.
either way it seems to be the same performance.
You can find a lot of info on it in support.dell.com forum. I don't remember if you need a login or not.
