Where's the "I hate Toshiba" club?

I'll make this short.

Toshiba has screwed me. They misrepresented a laptop, promised me a replacement, then lied about that. The refund process they are offering will "give" me a full refund, but only after 6-8 weeks of having my laptop and my money, leaving me with nothing in hand and their word that I'll be taken care of. That word hasn't been worth anything to me up to now.

I can go thru the whole story if people want to hear it, but if there's an "Toshiba sucks" website around, I'd appreciate knowing about it.

Thanks,

Super

My boss at work has a toshiba laptop. its fine and all but he had one gripe about their cs... when he got it brand new from the store there was a 200 dollar rebate offered by toshiba. it was mail-in and he sent it in on time. fast forward a few months later he got nothing. when he called them to ask where was his rebate. they said it was denied coz he sent it in too late...

such bs lol

Here's where it all began:

It's a VERY long thread. The first bit is just about the deal. I'm starting where we figured out where there was a problem.

Well, I recently bought an S670 and had to return it due to a dead pixel...

I was misinformed by the a Toshiba customer service rep that I would have to foot the bill for the return

I went ahead and sent it out (w/insurance) and they sent me a replacement S670

Only problem is that it also had a dead pixel

Called them up and told them I wanted another replacement, but that I refuse to pay for return shipping again...

This time, I was informed that I didn't have to pay shipping at all and that they would reimburse me for the first return bill

However, there was yet another problem

They were completely out of S670's because of the S676 models due on the 30th of June

Before I had a chance to ask for a full refund, the CS rep offered me an S676 at no additional charge

They said it would be shipped as soon as they arrived, but now the due date has been bumped up to the 9th and I was told that the first initial orders will have to be filled first and mine will most likely be shipped from the second batch a week later

I still have yet to receive my refund for the shipping charges, but they said it would take a couple of weeks to clear with their credit department

I can't really say I'm at the point where I hate them, but I'm getting there.....

snake:

its sounds like the toshiba customer service is more than happy to work with you and they are being very cooperative.

it is unfortunate about the dead pixels and it would get on my nerves too. But I have had many lcds with dead pixels before and I do know how hard it is to make lcds without any dead pixels, that is why they are so expensive.

So far from your report it sounds like your on the good end of the deal anyways, getting a brand new model when you bought an old one.

Hang in there and dont turn on toshiba yet. They will get it right, dont worry. Sorry about your experience and I hope it gets better.

And thanks toshiba, for dealing with a customer service problem the right way.

Snake at least your not flaming with them because that never gets a person what they want.

Good luck

to save everyone's time, it seems like the hell started around here:

maybe one or two pages back would give you a little more but this page is when they started talking about the whole "false advertising" situation of getting wrong processors and Toshiba telling them to suck it up and take it like a sucker.

I have to say that during my 2 return experiences with Toshiba, I can't say anything bad about em.

I spilled pop and completely screwed it up, called em up and they told me to send it in. Turns out my warranty expired the month before but they repaired everything, even things I didn't mention and sent it back to me free of charge. They even let me purchase an extended warranty.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I have friends who have done the same thing I have and had the same experience.

Yeah,
Toshiba has been pretty good with their return policies for the 2 laptops and 2 PDAs that I have owned.. they would ship me a box overnight, and i send it back overnight for free... id get it back within about 10 days... the only problem ive had, i got a Satellite S1292, and it was sent to me with 1 dead pixel, and arrived with a cluster of about 7.. i called toshiba and they said their deal pixel policy said it has to have 15 or more within 1 square inch... i told them that was bullsh*t, and asked to speak with hers superiors, superior.. and I did.. he answered the phone like this, "Sir, what can we do to make you happy".. i explained the problem, and he authorized them to send me a box.. when i got my lappy back about 9 days later.. they replaced teh screen, brand new keyboard, and 256mb more RAM... moral of the story.. be the squeakiest wheel.. bitchy people get their way... they even gave me a couple of bonuses, so i cant complain..

I'm impressed too, because my laptop runs fine, cept it overheats a lot, its a Toshiba Sattilite A-10. The only real problem is that my case screws keep falling out.

Well, I just called up Toshiba and asked for an update

Apparently, the S676 is now on National Backorder and they don't have any clue when the next shipment will be coming in

The first batch orders went directly to the CompUSA chains, so if you want one NOW, you can pick one up (both of my local stores have 8 in stock)....

So far, I'm NOT impressed

I'm gunna do my best to hold out for another 2 weeks, but if they can't come up with a solution or a set date at the very least, I'm just gunna ask for my money back and head out to the store......

Toshiba gave me the same story when I was promised a Tecra. They asked me to wait a couple weeks for an upcoming model. We did, then that was retracted and I'm left with a pain in the refund process.

I'd ask for something in writing that they're going to deliver on their promises.
