Not quite, but the people I am talking to are somewhat convinced it's the processor.

Guys,

similar things have happened to my 5660,

http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=21676

and also some people's 4750s.

I can get my computer work temporarily (bout 3 days) but I have had this problem for 3 months now and no change.

I'm trying to find a solution cuz its really ******* me off!
I am unable to RMA because im out of warrantee and I live in New Zealand and its $US200 for shipping.
I think someone needs to RMA and make Sager aware that there are similar symptoms across all of its models that point to a generic motherboard defect, or at least do some research into where the problem lies and possible fixes, as Sager will more often than not simply replace the motherboard and be done with it.

i had mine sent it to be have it estimated. turns out it was something simple. so i am having the keyboard replaced, the problem (something RAM related) and labor and shipping done for $175. much better than my predicted $500+ for a new motherboard.

So they're just replacing your RAM? You're only paying for new RAM?
Nothing wrong with your RAM socket?

Gosh I wonder if my RAM is faulty, that would explain all the symptoms - blacking out etc, and the first time i got it to work was by pulling out the RAM and chucking it in the opposite slot, but I don't understand how now knocking it it the only way to get my computer to work. Oh well, I can only test it.

You should ask sager for my sake whether it was just a problem with your ram module and nothing to do with the RAM socket.
Although 175$US seems too expensive to be just for a new RAM module, you get 512MB DDR SODIMS on newegg for $88
