The X505 although super light is not practical IMHO. It's running a centrino 1.2ghz and 512mb of RAM is its max. Not too much power there. And no real room to expand.

True. To most of us, that would be a deal breaker, but to someone uninterested in anything but portability, its an appealing item. I am a consultant and go from presentation to presentation. For work, i dont need to lug around a 10 pound behemoth, i want the litest footprint that can display Powerpoint. However, when i am not a consultant, I love computer gaming, and that laptop wont do the trick. If portability is the main requirement, the X type cant be beat. If anything else is a requirement, of course you could de better with something else.

I'm not sure what kind of money you're pulling in, but I don't think I'll ever see a consultant with an X505. The ones that I've met carry around Dell, Toshiba, Compaq, and a few lower end Sony Vaio's. If you can get your company to expense an X505, more power to you.

yeah my dad wants the Toshiba M205 tablet PC with the flip around screen. Because it willbe small enough has 512 ram (all he needs) Centrino 1.6 GHz 64MB GO FX5200 and thats enough to handle his requirements.

Dark,

Let us know how your dad like it. Before my AW, I had considered a tablet PC for grad school but wasn't certain if it would be a true paper notebook replacement.

a friend of mine bought himself the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1417 and he's very convenient with it...it's able to play most games in good to best solution, is quite light, and has a long battery lasting... up to 5 hours standby (he told me...im not that sure bout this) but 3 hours of office and its 1,7 gigs make it possible to have a light system with power...
As office-replacement it should be good enough... its only about 1,600 EUROs...that should be about 1,7k or 1,8k Dollars..donno

oh, crap. i didn't read until the end of the thread so i didn't see your dad had already decided, sorry
