Slimmest/lightest + Gaming, $ no object

post #1 of 89
Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a notebook to take with me on business trips, so it has to be light. The lighter and thinner the better. But I am addicted to gaming, and I'm going to be flying for 8 hours at a time.

Can anyone suggest a notebook with the following specs:

1. *Very* small and light and thin, 12 - 15" screen;
2. Good graphics chip, say a Mobility 9700;
3. Built-in WiFi (this is optional, really)
4. Built-in DVD (-ROM is OK, +/-RAM best)
5. Price: I don't care. Really.

If anyone knows what the very lightest notebook is with a Radeon 9700, please post it, even if it doesn't meet the other criteria.

Thanks in advance!

Pete

Asus M6N w/ 64mb 9700 (unfortunately it isn't available with a 128mb M11) This lappy has the option of putting a battery in the optical drive and u should get at least 8hrs. Pretty light laptop as well. Check it out at rjtech.com or proportable.
here's a link: http://www.proportable.com/detail.aspx?ID=10

15SXGA or 15.4WXGA

If you honestly don't care about price, you could always buy a 20K lappy from Go-L

Ha no way man, definatly I'd say the Voodoo M:360 or M:370. You can a free case plus an awesome paint job and of course a Voodoo gaming PC thats very light. If not go with Falcon Northwest's Centrino model.

Dont buy voodoo, the 370 only has a 9600... and the 360, you can get for a better price and better equiped at Hypersonic PC.

This is slightly OT, but HOLY CRAP go-l laptops.....

I just spec'ed out a 32,000 laptop...

my favorite part, that showed just how overpriced they are was this:

Premium DVI to VGA Adapter [add $59]

You can get one on eBay for $5 or less.. I know... I did... and how Premium can you get?? it simply converts a signal!!

Just out of curiousity, does Voodoo somehow lighten the CL56 (aka m360). Voodoo PC says it weighs 5.5 lbs. I thought it was like 6.3 lbs? If they lightened the notebook, that might help make the $3000 price tag a bit more paletable. The paint job on their laptops are amazing, but I am a bit too utilitarian when it come to laptops.

I may be wrong, but I think the voodoopc one is the g556e, not the CL56.

It is the CL56. They at one point sold the 556, but they dont sell it anymore, by the looks of it.

The x30 used to be at the top of the game... but now its pretty much fallen behind. Still a notebook I wouldnt mind having though.
