Gaming Limitations on Centrino

Thread Starter
I wasn't exactly sure how to search for the topic, so feel free to point me to any earlier threads.

I'm ready to purchase a new laptop and was very excited about the Area 51M, but the thing is HUGE! I've currently got my brother's. The thing is amazing! But again... HUGE!

I've noticed quite a few of you buying laptops with Centrino chipsets and wondered how they stack up gaming wise against the mobile 3.4g monsters on the larger laptops. Will I be able to play Farcry or the like?

Thank you

That is a really good question, as I would also like to know... I was just looking at some benchmarks here (http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/2...dothan-13.html), the ones to look out for are the Blackbox M11 and the two dell systems, they have similar graphics cards (128 memory, different cards though, see test setup for details), but the blackbox has p4 2.4 HT while the dells have centrinos...

lummox,

No problem with FarCry, the FarCry optimization will set your graphics appropriate to your system, but I haven't seen any stuttering or poor gameplay on my 1.6M with 9600 64mb card. I would still recommend a stronger graphics card, but there's no issues with the M cpu.
