Hi shuutme03,

I was wondering if you recieved your system yet? I am still waiting and they told me that they recieved some bad components and it will take additional time.

Yes I have. I called them so many times at hypersonic that almost everyone there knew exactly who I was after I said my name. They did take $200 off the price and I recieved it about 1 week ago. They had some problems with the motherboards, I guess that's why it took so long. In the end, I've got my system and it is amazing. Wait till you see the screen. It is simply amazing. The resolution if awesome, and the glossy surface makes it look like a framed picture every moment you look at it. The speed is almost too fast. It's amazing how much of a difference the 64 Bit proccessors make. Anyways. I'm writing a Review now. Hope you get it soon You'll enjoy it.

Shuutme03,

Does your system have a DVI port on the back? I'm just wondering if they've finally worked out the motherboard problems with DVI. Thanks.
It's got 3 monitor like ports, then the S-Video. So I think it might. Sorry, I'm not up to date with what the DVI port looks like. Is that for Flat Screen monitors, because if it is I have none in my house Sorry if that didn't help

Here's a pic of the back of a Hypersonic GX7 (a.k.a., 8750):

The DVI port is the white one, in between the pink LPT port and the green serial port.

From your description, it sounds like you have one. If so, then I'll have to contact Hypersonic and see if they'll upgrade me now that they've got the bugs worked out.

I don't have the laptop with me right now, but I'm 99% sure it has that DVI port. It does have 3 like that I know, so it probably does have it.

By the way Spooky, I've been using my wireless and been having low range problems, like only 15 feet. I use a D-Link Access Point (DWL-2100AP). Have any ideas as to why I don't get that much range on the card? Is yours the same way? I read a post on some kind of internal antenna problem but I don't want to take the risk on the guts of my laptop. Are there any other options for me?

shuutme03, I would really appreciate it if you posted back once you were sure if it has the DVI or not.

I will post, but my brother is on a business trip and he needed it there. (Got the GPS thing on it, and he desperately needed it). Expect it to be on thursday. I will try to post then. Sorry that I'm not sure yet, but I will let you know as soon as I can.

Re: wi-fi signal strength:

Most 8790/4750 owners with weak signal find that switching the antenna posts on the wi-fi card gives significantly improved signal. The full thread can be found here. The short of it is:
1. Power off your unit and open the HD panel on the back of the unit.
2. Flip up the HD to reveal the wi-fi card.
3. Turn the unit so that the Gigabyte label is facing you. You will see 2 antenna posts at the top of the card. The black antenna wire should be connected to the leftmost antenna post. The rightmost antenna post should be empty.
4. Disconnect the wire from the antenna post (it should pop off rather easily) and reconnect it to the rightmost antenna post.
5. Flip the HD back into place.
6. Replace the retaining panel. You may want to use only 2 screws to hold it in place until you're certain that your system's functioning.
7. Start up the laptop and check your signal.

Hope this helps.

Thank You very much spooky. I will try it as soon as my laptop comes back tonight. Just one more thing. Can I seriously hurt my laptop by doing this? I'm not asking for a warranty or anything, just anything I should watch out for when I open it up? And also, I remember there being more than one compartment with screws on the back. How do I know which one is the right compartment? (Maybe it says it on the back, but I don't have it with me right now But I will definately give it a shot. Hope it works. Again, how much range are you getting with your card? Just so I have a comparison. Thank you again, you have been very helpful on these forums to me and to others. I give you a cookie

when switched its a very powerful signal. Mine came switched I think, but it took me awhile to get it to work smoothly. I was able to access the internet in a different room on the floor below the router.

Shuutme03,

Check out the thread I linked. It's got pics of the whole process. Well, pics of an 8790, but the chassis are nearly identical. Trust me, it's easy.

I switched them and I got a great signal now. Thank you for the help. But about the DVI port, it's not exactly set up the same way as the GX7 was. It doesn't have a white port in the middle. Instead it has a small blue port, a larger pink port, and another small no color port that has only pins inside. So I'm not sure if this has a DVI port or not. Sorry that I'm not much help, even though you were so helpful to me. Thank you again.

Well it looks like I will be getting my AX7 tomorrow 8/14. I too called several times and mine was two weeks late. They upgraded my shipping to overnight and threw in a free painted mouse.
Good luck. And welcome to the 4750 club!

Avitor AX7

Ordered the AX7 last night. No special paint for this one.
I've been reading all the posts and still think I made the right decision.
I checked quite awhile for the right desktop replacement and this one seems to be the one that fits.
Thanks all for the great information in this forum.
