Mitac 8050 vs. Acer 2025WLMi

Thread Starter
I am stuck which would you guys go with. I spec'd out the Mitac from rjtech with the same specs as the acer and the price is about the same about a $50 difference.

1.8 Dothan
512Mb ram
80gb 4200 Hard drive
DVD+-RW
Windows XP pro

I know I can spec out the laptop differently with the Mitac but I wanted to see if it would be much cheaper then acer using the same spec's. The only thing different I would of liked over the Mitac is the faster hard drive which i can do at a later time with the Acer. So is the Acer the better bet or is there a good reason to go with the Mitac????? Thanks

To me it looks better. But spec wise tehre isn't much of a difference.

I am stuck with the same dilemma. I had decided on the Mitac for GPU and widescreen reasons. Then I discover the Acer 2025 and it has the basically the same specs without the 7200 HD but I like the case design better(metal). One thing about the ACER is that to upgrade the RAM you have to get under the keyboard. It also has some odd buttons and LCD on the front of the case. However, Acer is a pretty solid ODM with an established track record for quality. Also, I think the Acer has a slightly better screen resolution.

some advice: +$150 for +100 mhz is too much to pay
grab a 1.7 ghz 735

kick some of the saved money into upgrading your HD to 5400 rpm, this is an important upgrade

now the mitac might seem more attractive.

So the Mitac's case is plastic, while the Acer's is metal, right? Considering those two myself. Can anyone comment on build-quality comparisons seeing as how they're made of different materials?

All the Acer 2025's ive seen are $2200.00+, when you can get a Mitac 8050 with the same or better specs for about $400 cheaper.

The Acer is nice, but i dont know about the price difference.

Actually, when you configure the Mitac at RJtech to match the aspire specs you are only about $100 different from Newegg pricing. And I was wrong about the screen resolution - It's the same for both.

Aside from the slow HD, I would definetly get the Acer because of its metal casing. Everything else seems to be the same, and I hear the screens for Acers look really nice
