All you guys looking for the heatpipe cooler, I have one that I'm wanting to sell. I got it from CompUSA like the day before they stopped carrying them and got it for $26 (inc. shipping). It just doesn't work well enough on my model (the 8890 with huge feet) to warrant spending $26 on it in my mind. If any of you are interested, PM me. I'll let it go for $26 and cover shipping myself. So it's as if you were buying direct from CompUSA (which you may as well buy from them except they stopped carrying them).
If I don't get any interest, my girlfriend seemed interested. But you guys have first dibs. I got my priorities right!
EDIT: I read a post that makes me think the heatpipe will do much better on the 4750. First, according to this post
, the bottom of the 4750 gets really hot. My 8890 doesn't really get that hot on the bottom - most of the heat is felt in the keyboard and palm area - the bottom almost feels room temperature (except for the battery). Also, The widescreen chasis will 'straddle' the cooler, eliminating the need to remove the feet to get to bottom of the cooler right next to the heatpipes. The reason I believe it isn't very effective on my 8890 is the 3/4" gap between the bottom of my unit and the cooler surface. I thought about removing the feet and putting on smaller ones, but then realised I'd HAVE to use the cooler at all times if I did that. I bought some little feet from radioshack and will happily include 4 so that when the bottom of your notebook rests on it, it doesn't get scratched.
