Going back a page, can anyone with a 4750 measure the distance between the insides of the feet and also the height they add. I was trying to figure out if the heatpipe cooler was thin enough so that the chasis could straddle it.

But looking at the Sager pics (here - then click for larger image on the left), it looks like the 'feet' are those tinly little rubber strips. Which by looking at the front view, don't add much height at all. The feet on my 8890 add almost an inch of space between the bottom of the unit and the surface it's sitting on, which is why I believe I'm not getting very effective results.

Looking at the pics and the spacing between the 4750 "feet", it looks like the feet will sit right at the corners of the heatpipe cooler. But the "feet" add almost no height. Plus the 8890 doesn't get that hot on the bottom - cool to the touch except for the battery. So I'm pretty sure the heatpipe will work better on the 4750.

Anyone?! Ocean said he has a heatpipe cooler that works great with the 56x0 model which my dad has. It also has the large feet, but I haven't felt how hot it gets. As for the widescreen models fitting on a normal sized cooler, G-Omaha did it and said it works fine - even giving room for wires etc under the edges that 'hang over'.

What I did was get some of the big rubber feet (about 3/8 inches high) and applied those to the four corners of the Antec unit that I have and set the 8790 on top. The "true" feet of the 8790 are thereby suspended above the Antec and I get good air flow because I also "flipped" the fans so that they blow "upwards" rather than "downwards". Problem solved - or at least for me it was.

Right. My point is with the heatpipe cooler, we DON'T want the extra air gap so the technology can be more efficient. There still is an air gap because of the cooler's design - just the heatpipes themselves would be closer to the bottom of the unit. But with my 8890, those large rubber feet you mentioned are a part of my laptop, thus the cooler is inefficient.

In other words, it's still for sale and those with the 8790/4750 are primary targets because it'll work better with them. Unless you mind having an inch overhanging the edges, but like you said G, you can utilize that space for cables so they're not in the way.

Oh yea! My 4750 is here and loading windows!

Initial impression:
Looks like an awesome screen
Solid build quality

That's it until windows is up

How hot does yours get on the bottom Air? And how much height to the little feet add?

Hey guys earlier in this thread you stated that getting 2GB of ram wouldn't serve any purpose. I'm looking to play eq2 and I want to do it on a 4750. In your opinion should I just get 1GB ram or do you think this game may run better on 2GB.
The feet are very small. It gets warm, but it isn't as bad as my A51-m used to be.

Is the pc camera CAM or TAS? Anyone know?
I think eq2 will run great on 1 gig, no need for 2 yet in games.

Go with TAS, Air.
Yup, sager said TAS too. Thanks spooky (cute name, btw I like it).
whats cam and tas?
CAM and TAS are folders in the Camera directory of the Drivers CD. They both contain setup applications, but there's no readme files indicating which one you should use. From trial and error (I've reformatted my HD twice so far ), the TAS drivers are the only ones that actually work.
