xtremenotebooks now sells the clevo 470k! kind of pricey though.
Actually Xtremenotebook's price is the lowest for my needs. Plus they offer a 2% cash discount, there's no california tax, S/H is $35.00 flat, and on top of that the 3-year warranty is $179 (goes up to $249 after 7/31). I've emailed them about offering a bluetooth option, that's the only thing missing for me. And I wish their dead-pixel policy were bettter (3+ bad pixels = defective LCD).

Still gonna wait for Sager's offer though.

It's for paying with anything besides a credit card. Hypersonic has a similar deal for 1% off.

Sweet. Xtremenotebooks is in cali right?
(They now offer internal bluetooth for $60. They've been answering all my many many emails within 1-2 hours, very good sign.)

The Xtremenotebook office is in Nevada, the manufacturer is in California. Normally they would have to charge tax, but they get around this by shipping all systems to their Nevada office first, and then to any California address. Takes an extra ~2 days, but it's well worth the savings in tax money.

"To minimize costs, Xtremenotebooks.com delivers notebooks to customers directly from the manufacturer, located in the state of California. Current sales tax law requires CA sales tax to be charged on all sales originating in and shipping to California. So, in order to avoid charging CA sales tax at this time, Xtremenotebooks.com recommends the following:

Orders with a CA shipping address will first be shipped to Xtremenotebooks.com's office in Carson City, NV. Then, it will be immediately shipped back to the customer in California. All California orders will be processed this way unless you advise us otherwise.

This service is provided at no additional shipping charge. The only down-side is that Ground shipping takes two business days to reach Nevada from southern California.

Is there any way to avoid the delay? Yes, pay the sales tax."

I wonder about their backpacks though. i haven't heard of the gek brand before.

One more store has it...

http://powernotebooks.com/

I've sent them an email about getting 802.11G Turbo WiFi. So far the price looks good (good indication of PC Torque's price?) AND they have a 2.5% cash discount.

An employee of Cyber-System (German Clevo Reseller) posted some out of the box benchmark results :

Aquamark3: 28735 points

3DMark 03: 3427 points

Configuration of the system:
CL-5711, Mobile Athlon64 3200+ (62W), 1024MB PC400 DDR RAM, 40GB 5400 rpm HDD, WXGA, ...

On his machine the fans only start running every 15 minutes for a short time under low load like word processing or internet surfing. On the bottom side he noticed just a little heat, but in the keyboard area the heat is approximatly as high as on the Clevo 8790. During high load the fans work on the same noiselevel as on the Clevo D500E.
You can read this information on the german chip forum:

The Clevo D470K from Cyber-System can be found under:

Ciao

Thanks Shinzon. Now we've got benchmarks from a 3000+ and a 3200+. I wonder what the 3400+ scores.
I'll have the same tax problem with sager, how much should I pay to get rid of the extra trip? I am on quite a hurry.
If you're talking about the earlier posts and avoiding CA tax, a few sights do this, including PC Torque and Xtremenotebooks. Some offer a shipping option that's direct to CA, to which they just add CA tax (8.25%). But if you're really in a rush I would call the company and let them know to see what your best option is (maybe overnight it). Discount Laptops said that even if the 4750 is posted, Sager wasn't shipping them out until 7/15 at the earliest. Good luck.

Regarding the DVI port:

The MR9700 GPU supports DVI output. Early versions of the D470K chassis were based on an older D470* model. This model (not sure which, could be the D470W) did not have the MR9700 GPU, so there was no DVI port on the chassis back panel. However, this can be corrected by getting the updated back panel from the vendor, replacing the old panel, and connecting the port to the motherboard.

If you should get a non-DVI enabled D470K, contact your reseller and request that they get you the updated back panel from the vendor.

Powernotebooks is rather pricey, although i like that it has the option for one 1024 mb sodimm ram.
powernotebooks = $2067 for my config... which means they are the cheapest thus far...

I think the store which shall remain unamed will be cheapest.
the 4790 is listed for pre-order on the site-which-shall-not-be-named...

it is. but not the 4750.
holy crap 6 days!!! this is goin' by faster than i thought. These benchmarks look really promising, we've got a bitchin machine here. I think the 3400+ is a big step beyond the 3200+ and 3000+ as far as technology, so we should see impressive numbers from it. It's about time to start smashin nanners for good luck
