What do you think of these? Twinhead Centrino - Page 3

i was disappointed to see that the kb didn't hold up to a full glass of water, but not really surprised

it did kind of sound like PCmag really let that full glass of water seep in there before "draining it off" or whatever. i would have been amazed if the thing held up, hehe. i guess it might be better protection against just an accidental splash or something; maybe thats what twinheads was going for.

anyway, it did look like the "drop" protection worked pretty well-- maybe this, coupled with a stellar build design would be enough to overcome its thickness / weight deficiencies in a comparison to the cl56.

that is, of course, the price is also the same =D

keep us posted dealer-man!

The n15rn/rb is a alloy case, metal top and bottom.

the n1400/n14pl has a plastic top.

looks like a decent rig (the RB anyway), but only hands-on will tell.

so are you guys interested in the price/performance? or the "durability"? and how is one to test the "ruggedness/durability" anyways (guessing after you bought it) ... (start smashing your little precious?) actually... if they claim to be more durable, would that change their effectiveness of warranty? i.e. "i dropped my laptop several times and now it is damaged... but you said you dropped it like 20 times without any problems... can i get a replacement?"

after reading posts everyday for a week now, i'm still leaning towards the CL56

I never liked the way the CL56 looked at all, if this offers similar price/performance in that chassis, ill be all over it.

i am still shopping too, seems like i'll never be able to choose, but if this offer same price/performance, i might swing this way too.

Well, twinhead must be getting deluged now, I've signed up too. I'm really only interested in the N15rb/rn series and maybe the superlight N23PB (just over an inch thick, 4.4lbs).

If they're going to ruggedize it for a similar price as everyone else, why not try it out? Gift horse...
The chassis might be a nice touch, we'll have to see.

I just drilled through the Samsclub website, and from what i can tell they have a 6 month 100% uncondition return policy on all computers. You can order online and return it to a local store even. The only thing you are out is shipping. I cant seem to figure out if its a return or refund though. (hi dead pixel return though)

Ill try to find out more tommorow
I don't see it on the samsclub website anymore??? What happened to it?
Yes, its not there now. Im sad.... 6 mo return policy was just amazing...
I thought it was 90 days return policy.
6 months was Costco on the HP's which they now appear to be phasing out.

It looks like discount laptops has the twinhead n15rb but only offers the 1.8 dothan as the highest processor on their customization page.
Yeah the site that sells discount laptops has a pretty configurable one.. Only prob is the pc2100 ram. I think i'm stickin with a 1557 or a cl56.
Very nice/exciting to see someone getting something other than a cl56.

Thats not to say that I'm not getting a cl56, but still...
still looks a little bit thick / heavy, that's what i would be worried about the most.

looking forward to your appraisal of its form factor, as well as benchmarks for perf comparison (interested in its mr9700 perf, i wonder what kind of cooling system they have in the 15rb?)

when's the ship date?

lol now that's funny
