What do you think of these? Twinhead Centrino - Page 4

Let us know how the n15rb is - i'm getting the 12.1" n23, upped the specs a bit to make it decent, even with the integrated video that plagues most 12.1" machines.

They also have the Twinhead N15RB at www.discountlaptops.com

I assume that you are buying one unit that is fully returnable if you are not impressed??? I only ask because PC Mag was quite unimpressed with a similar TwinHead model (although, yes, I do "temper" anything I read in PC Mag).

Given some of it's "ruggedized" features, I'm OK with the 1LB tradeoff over say....a CL56.

As for the 9700, I did get that reply back from them saying it was stock clocked at 400MHz, which is encouraging.

When I get it I will provide pics, in the state it arrived and disassembled , performance benchies and my, albeit, subjective impressions on build quality technical innovation, etc. etc.

Im waiting for your reviews before i order

Hioctane will Twinhead drop ship and do they charge a fee for it so no one has to have inventory or overhead?
ok sort of like dropshipping except they send it to you first? Hmmm...seems like it would be faster and just as easy to send it directly to the customer...how are their dealer prices?
lol HiOctane, you wouldn't know that from the guys that sell computers around here.

As for drop shipping, I don't because I like to do a thorough check of the computer, all the ports, the screen, etc, so my customers don't get a crappy system as their first impression. and, of course, branding it.

nice! thanks for taking the time to review

Are you an established computer business??
If so, please post information, such as your website and business name??
Are you setup to accept credit cards (other than through Paypal)??

Same question to both CoffeeShark and HiOctane.

May I suggest that you change the links so that they look different than regular text? Either different color or underline... It's really hard to find what to click on when both links and text are black & bold.

This is interesting.. What will you brand your lappies as Hiotane or Coffee... And how much in general will it cost you to have a new badge made. As to everyone knowning whats under the hood. Thats not true..i didn't know a blimpied thing before these boards heh

HiOctane,

site looks good in my opinion. very clean. I wouldn't make them go the extra click after "pentium M" to view different sizes, maybe all of them on the same page. but when you have a bigger inventory, that might work just fine.

on config options, are you giving a "none" option? just wondering.

anyway, keep it going. let us know when it's done.

ew
imo change your color scheme, it really isn't a bad logo otherwise

HiOctane,
i went with my own design for awhile, finally dimed up for a decent logo.
When you get some cash, check out logoworks.com, I used them and they did an excellent job for a great price.

If you start as resell only without badging, people will expect that forever, might want to consider that from the start.

HiOctane, I like the logo.. I don't like the colors..they don't make the logo stand out enough.

CoffeeShark, Whats your url i'd like to see your site. How long have you been selling?
I find information is the best way to sell products. I know this forum is part of why PCT sells so well as a reseller. One of the things I looked for when looking for a laptop was benchmarks, because Adam provides these details here..it made me want to purchase from him. Nearly all the sites I looked at had no benches, so I had no way of knowing how well the machine would work for what I wanted inspite of the spec's of the unit. Knowledge is power. heh

I can't compete with PCTorque prices, I'm more of a service-oriented local reseller, for people who aren't really into doing all the research that you guys would normally do. I have sold to some soldiers overseas and a few across the states, but mostly locals. I work on the systems myself, only shipping them back to the manufacturer if I absolutely have to.
I see myself more in competition with local stores than online sites.

I rebrand my laptops, I think if you're going to do enough research to know Sager, you'll buy from Sager or PCTorque, and you'll buy the CL56 from Mwave or such. I'll probably eventually leave the Sager models to the pros, and sell more of the off brands like MSI, Twinhead and those I can build myself from barebones. But for now, the Sager's do pretty well. I would also like to branch into customization of laptops, AW or Ferrari-style paint and logo stuff.

My site is pretty basic, I'm not much of a web developer, all I care about is if it works or not (no color problems for me ). I've been selling since last year. http://www.xmeld.com

HiOctane,
I see what you mean with the whole concept, but if people want the RAW of Rawpower, then many will probably want a Raw barebones style, and it will be tough to create a profit margin other than what you markup from the distributor.
