Mitac 8050 ww/ WSXGA?

Anybody know if the Mitac 8050 has an identical counterpart, only with a WSXGA screen?

It's just that I've been living on 1280x1024 res for the past 6 years, I'm just worried that the WXGA height of 800 is gonna be too low, not to mention that potentially playing black-banded games (the ones that don't support widescreen) will mean an even lower height of displayed images.

Thanks ad infinitum. Loving this place more and more with each thread I view

Ah well.. can't get everything you want, I guess. What about my fears re: the resolution of the screen? Unfounded?

Cheers

i would say it's personal taste...
more than 1/2 the ppl in my faculty have widescreen... and that faculty being in cs... ppl do write code on it... and i'm told the res is more than enough...
but then u also have people that must be able to see 2 screens at a time... ie. dudes that have dell 8600 w/ wuxga screens

You will miss the resolution, but i dont think it will be that big a difference for you. I went from 1600x1200 for nearly 10 years.

How's your eyesight? Thanks, though. Exactly what I needed to know. Btw, overall, are you happy with your 8050? Thanks again

What benchmarks do you get from it? cos the uk machines of similar model and spec do quite poorly.

My eyesight is quite good actually. that's probably why i can stand the 1600x1200 resolution.

Overall i am extremely happy with the mitac. I would buy it again. No other laptop has sparked my interest over this one yet..

i agree with ungcas the mitac is great. i'm not regretting buying it one bit. i run my desktop resolution at 16x12 also and jumping to my mitac it isn't THAT bad sometimes i actually like it better. so dude i wouldn't be worried about the resolution.
