DVD Burning Issues 5680 (SD-R6112)

i first tried to burn a data dvd with nero 6.3, it got to about 98% then it just froze, a week later i tried again, this time with roxio 7, it finished and said complete, but i cant read the disc in any dvd drive including the one i burned it with. is there a firmware upgrade or something or is my drive bad?

I think that the problem may be the cause of the media. Not all media is compatable. Which type of media are you using> And at what speed?

first was tdk, then memorex, i just burned one with a verbatum and it worked, but then i went to burn a 2nd and the machine locked up at 56% just like the first time with nero (i used roxio again this time) i dont think its the media, this is also a new xp install so i dont blame the os, i have nothing else running while im buring so nothing is accessing the drive etc.

Do you have any program like INCD or Direct CD? These programs gave me sporadic errors...including incomplete burns. I uninstalled them and now those problems have been alleviated. I suppose that if you needed one of those apps you could just close them down their processes.

nope, nothing like that at all, i even tried turing the wireless off and disabling nav

See if you can get you ands on some Ritek or Ridata 1x-4x media (G04 Type). I know that those work and have burned hundreds w/o making a coaster.

I have not used Verbatim since the 2x CD-R problems they had many years ago.
